The 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday night, and it was a scorcher! The small screen’s biggest stars flocked down the runway in 100 degree heat, and while I sat sipping on a vodka tonic in air conditioning, I got a little bit judgmental. Hello, here’s my Worst Dressed List!
Amy Poehler Drops Stella for Michael
Amy Poehler lost the award for Best Actress in a Comedy to Julie Louis-Dreyfus, again – making me feel a bit bad dubbing her as a worst dressed. But, I just can’t escape noticing how uninspired this Michale Kors is, with hair that looks anything but red carpet ready. Do you think she figured she was going to lose and just didn’t care?
Ellie Kemper is Apparently Stoppable After All
When Naeem Khan debuted this at New York Fashion Week a couple seasons back, I knew it would lead to problems on the red carpet. It’s just not an overtly wearable dress. Give this a crisp, white bodice or chop it at the knee and we’re in business. As an evening gown? It’s suffocating.
Emma’s a member of the very large cast of Orange is the New Black – which transitioned from a comedy to a drama this year at the Emmys. Maybe Emma missed the memo, because she clearly came dressed to represent the category of comedy.
Heidi Klum Just Won’t Stop
I really hope I don’t have trouble letting go of my youth like Heidi Klum. Yes, her body is still fit and slender – and I hate to be an age-ist, but this looks flat out ridiculous. Girl, this Versace is too young for you. Period.
Jane Krakowski in Bibhu Mohapatra
I find myself wanting to like this much more than I do. I also find myself thinking it’s really just not the dress for Jane –and could look absolutely amazing on someone else. Gaga would’ve slayed this!
Joanne Froggatt Begs for Better Styling
I blame this 100% on Joanne’s stylist. The J. Mendel gown in itself is lovely -sure, maybe I’m not TOO in love with the color, but the design is romantic and soft. The hair? A nightmare. Anna would absolutely NEVER let Lady Mary leave the Abbey like that! Get it together.
Upon a Google search, I learned Julie Klausner is a writer–and therefore may not have the best stylists on hand to help her get ready for the Emmy’s. That said, it doesn’t matter what connections you do or not have really, because I’m pretty darn sure there’s something better than this hanging out at your local Kmart. I honestly do!
Kathryn Hahn Loves Fabric
I saw The Visit last week, and Kathryn Hahn is pretty good in it. Shame, then, to see her show up to the Emmy’s dressed in her grandmother’s castoff drapery. Seriously, she is very wrapped up in bad fabric and it’s criminal…because her shoes are REALLY good!
Kathy Bates Puts on a Horror Show
I love Kathy Bates. And Kathy, the outside world loves you too. We ALL love Kathy Bates! So, how does something this awful happen to her? Guys, we have to team together and do BETTER for our Kathy!
Uzo Aduba in Jonathan Cohen
No joke, it looks like ‘Crazy Eyes’ threw a can of black paint on her otherwise lovely dress.
Julianne Hough Caught in a Web
When Marchesa sent this spider web nightmare down the runway, I cringed. Seeing it on the red carpet? I wish I was blind. This dress is like a paper cut for the eyes. Definitely my least favorite of the entire night!
Do your eyes need a little bit of re-cooperating? Mine too!
