Happy hump day, dreamers! I’m really excited about today’s poolside OOTD post with BooHoo, because I had such a blissful weekend by the pool last week and just want to revel in it while I can. After all, my fall fashion catalogs are already starting to arrive–meaning winter is getting that much closer. *tear*
For now though, let’s celebrate the season of summer around us!
Recently, a kind little gem named Kim at BooHoo reached out, inquiring if I wanted to to join their beach campaign. I said, while I don’t have immediate access to a beach right now (sadly)- I DO have access to a pool! Cut to me parading around the pool in the coolest of cool kimonos with the floppiest of floppy black hats.
Frankly, the weather this summer has sucked. Any chance to sit by the pool has been ruined by pouring rain and overcast skies. As luck would have it though, (just when I REALLY needed it) the weather last weekend was a gift from the Gods. 80’s, nonstop sunshine and low humidity. Perfection! Hence, me busting out Florence + the Machine, the vodka tonics, a beach read and sunglasses. I tucked my phone away inside and took the time to savor the moment and enjoy the comforting warmth of sunshine on my skin. Summer is probably the least relaxing time in my world, and I was in need of some serious R&R time.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this countless times, but I’ll say it once more: the color purple gives me life. And, this swishy, purple BooHoo kimono screamed ‘MINE’ to me at first sight. What can I say? Every girl needs a power color and purple just happens to be mine.
Of course, I had to snag a matching black hat to go with my new cool girl kimono. Rule of thumb, always wear a hat in the sun…because, why race to get ‘crows feet’ any earlier! Am I right? Great thing about floppy, straw hats is that they can get wet, without self-destructing. A pre-requisite to any poolside fun. I’m pretty sure any female over the age of 18 has resolved to not get their hair wet at the pool. So, yes…I tucked that all up inside my floppy hat to enjoy some casual ‘wading’ in the pool. (I say ‘wading’ because ‘swimming’ is simply too exerting for R&R time.)
What I Wore
BooHoo Floppy Hat
BooHoo Floral Maxi Kimono
Sunglasses – Oscar by Oscar de la Renta (Can’t believe I found these online. Get them!!)
Denim Shorts by NY and Company
Lands End Swimsuit *similar*
Well, BooHoo is quickly rising up the ranks in my book. In case you missed it, I also rocked a seriously cute graphic t-shirt and mint green skirt by them recently (here) – and with this killer kimono in my closet, I’d say I’m a fan. They offer so many affordable options, and I’m excited to see them gain more speed here in the States. And, if there’s any campaign I can stand behind, it’s one called #WeAreUSA as I am a proud American, through and through!
Moral of the fashion story is: next time you’re in need of a vodka tonic and Florence Welch to sing your troubles away, I suggest throwing on a kimono. Honestly. A kimono really ups the ante on ‘chill’ factor, don’t you think? It’s like throwing a private Lollapalooza all on your own. It’s like Coachella, without the Kardashians. Some pieces of clothing really set the tone, and nothing says “Geez, Kelly. Relax. Simma down!” more than a kimono. Period. In fact, I should probably start buying them in bulk…
On that note, I’m off to watch the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars and hopefully get some sleep. Do let me know if share my love of kimonos, (and BooHoo)!
