Work is work, but on rare occasions – it can be extra special. I thought today we could put Fashion Month Madness aside to talk makeup and chic outfit of the day ideas for a very chilly, fancy night out! *cheers*
I think I’ve mentioned it MAYBE once or twice before, but I work for a nonprofit and we recently had our largest fundraiser of the year. —- Work talk stops there!
My point? It was a big fancy “end of summer” affair that also happened to fall on a very chilly evening. I mean, how does one dress for a “summer” party when it’s 50 degrees outside? Simple. Wear a great dress coat as a dress, itself. Enter Banana Republic and this chic, “Jackie O”-esque jacket that I acquired a couple seasons back on MEGA sale. It was one of those purchases that I knew paid for itself the second I hit the parking lot. With it’s classic lines, gold buttons and a Peter Pan collar, it will absolutely never go out of style.
Bonus, it also has a precious bow at the back – and who doesn’t love bow detailing? Dare I say, no one.
The outfit isn’t the only topic of discussion though, as the night was also an exercise in holy grail “get it done” makeup.
If you work in marketing, event planning, or public relations – you know, having a foolproof makeup plan is crucial before any event. Over time, I’ve mastered a list of go-to products that without fail, bring it home every time. After all, when there are SO many things that can go wrong at a large event, it’s nice to know that at the very least…your makeup won’t disappoint. Think of it like taking out a large life insurance plan. One thing you don’t have to stress about at all.

While running around busily among over 400 guests, I didn’t have time to necessarily sip on champagne – but it sure does look nice in the pictures! I’m honestly toying with the idea of making that my cover photo on Facebook, which would beat the Blizzard shot that’s still up there from last December…
One thing’s for sure, the location of this event was beautiful. With stately architecture, romantic gardens and enchanting fountains like that – what’s not to love? I’m just sitting here pretty, praying for an invitation to an event there that I don’t have to work so I can enjoy it more.
As planned, my makeup stayed put. More importantly though? The vast amount of compliments my coat garnered, from men and women of all ages. Proving one absolute truth in life:
You can’t beat a great coat. Period. The end! 😉
