I know we’re all thinking it, so I’ll just go ahead and say it: How the f*ck are we through the month of June already?
Time going by at warped speed aside though, June was a great month for me beauty wise. Which is good, as everything else in the month of June seemed like a major flop! Yes, it wasn’t exactly the most cheerful of months for me, but luckily I did have fun putting my makeup on everyday – and driving in my car to some new tunes. Let’s roll on with with my June favorites!
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
Talk about a throwback product! Clinique’s 3-step skincare routine takes me way back to my high school days when I really didn’t know much about beauty. Clinique literally making skincare as easy as 1 – 2 -3 got me hooked. It’s been a while though since I’ve used anything from Clinique’s skincare line, but in Sephora one day I was feeling frisky and picked up the ‘gel’ version of this standby favorite. Guess what? I like it! It’s lightweight and doesn’t get greasy beneath my makeup. There’s also something quite refreshing about it for summer. Win!
MAC ‘Red’ Lipstick
I feel bad for my ‘Red’ lipstick, as it’s rendered relatively unused. When I’m wearing red lipstick, odds are it’s MAC’s Russian Red, but in June I wanted to give the matte finish a rest in favor of MAC’s HEAVENLY Amplied formula. The classic red shade is amazing, but what puts this over the top to me is how well this holds up through eating, drinking…and sweating your face off. Hello, humidity!
MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish
When I rediscovered MAC Red hanging out in my collection, I felt inspired to dig out MAC’s cult favorite Soft and Gentle. It is summertime, so what better way to celebrate with angel-kissed cheeks?
Essie ‘Peach Side Babe’ Nail Polish
If I’m being honest, this perfect peach from Essie was on my nails 9 times out of 10 in the month of June. Thank GOD I’m over whatever weird phase I was in where Essie chipped on me in a matter of minutes, because I’m quite sold on their color selection season after season. Peach Side Babe worked beautifully on my fingertips, but I’m thinking this would work beautifully on my toes as well!
Dior Star Foundation
Dior doesn’t sell this as a long-lasting foundation, but I found this do be quite the marathon foundation in the month of June. In fact, while I wouldn’t recommend it, I did sport this through the night once, for a record breaking 26 hours of wear – and, it basically held up like a champ. Stay tuned, full review to come soon!
CoverGirl ‘Intensify Me’ Liquid Eyeliner*
CoverGirl sent me this eyeliner to review with a mascara, and I was honestly blown away by how much I love it! It’s definitely an intense black, which really p-o-p-s! The pen tip is unique as you can use it two ways, to get a thin line or a super thick line. Honestly, I need to do a full review on this bad boy, because it’s amazing. It stays put all day and is super easy to apply. (Winged eyeliner dunce? Problem solved.) Seriously, this is my favorite drugstore liner, ever! (Watch my first impression review of CoverGirl’s The Super Sizer mascara here!)
Laura Mercier Cavier Stick in ‘Sugar Frost
I bought Laura Mercier’s Sugar Frost eyeliner pen for those mornings when I’m feeling just a bit lazy. What ended up happening though, was I reached for this time and time again no matter how much time I had to get ready. The color and finish reminds me of Stila’s famous Kitten eyeshadow, but it’s even easier to apply. Sugar Frost and CoverGirl’s eyeliner? My go-to eye, all month long!
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in ‘Sand’
Maybelline Fit Me concealer isn’t new in my life, but I did do a color swap that made me fall in love with it all over again! One night I quickly popped in to Target to replace my ‘light’ concealer, only to discover they were out of stock. Rather than trying to find another concealer I might like, I decided to pick up the shade Sand instead, and I’m very happy with it. I love how buildable this concealer is, and how you can touch up with it hours later and it blends in without trouble. Perfect!
Florence + the Machine ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’
After what felt like an eternity, Florence Welch and her gang finally released their third studio album and it is the thing summer dreams are made of, for reals. Nothing says summer to me quite like driving through town with the windows open, or lounging poolside flipping through magazines to Florence, my goddess.
My jam sessions to Muse while driving through town are pretty famous at this point. Even complete strangers have recognized me days later and brought it up. ‘Didn’t I see you last week having a party to Muse in traffic by yourself?’ Why, YES – yes you did. So, it’s no surprise that Drones was on regular rotation in rush hour, but I have to throw out there how impressive this album is. I’d say it’s one of their best in a few years. Love, it!
Like I said, it’s been a rough month. My stress and anxiety levels have been high, and to unwind at the end of the night, Calm was a lifesaver! Recently I shared a post (here) about my new found love of meditation and the app Headspace. Now that I’m a bit more advanced, I LOVE Calm! You set 5-10-15 minute sessions, using whatever relaxing sound you like. My favorite? Rain on leaves. 10 minutes of solitude with the Calm app and I feel much more relaxed and clear minded. Thank you Tanya Burr for the recommendation!
Another favorite in the month of June that I can’t avoid mentioning is my YouTube channel! After dragging my feet for ages, I finally setup the camera and got talking about my favorite things in Beauty. It would mean so much if you’d take a second to visit my channel and subscribe! To do so, click here 🙂
I’ll go ahead and stop there, as I feel I’ve been rambling for ages. But, here’s to making July a great month! Let me know if you have any requests for posts or videos!
What were you loving in the month of June?

I loooovvveeee the shade of the Mac lipstick, and extra points for it lasting through eating and drinking – I don’t think I’ve found a lipstick that does that yet!

You should definitely pick it up. It’s a bit miraculous how well it holds up! xoxo
