I meditated for the first time earlier this year, and it literally blew my mind. Even with my longtime passion of yoga I never fully comprehended the benefits to mediation, until I parked my ass in a chair, downloaded Headspace, breathed for ten minutes and never looked back.
My first session felt like magic. Tension from chronic pain and stress was slowly massaged away, by breathing. I mean, the feeling and the aftereffects were unreal. It felt like the tension in my mind was being kneaded out. After ten minutes, I felt as though I was emerging from a week long spa retreat. Hello, hello heaven – I think I found you!
I just can’t believe that something as simple, and as easy as meditation, can have such a big impact on your life. It’s brilliant. I have found it to be so helpful and relaxing in my journey of being able to combat my chronic pain and stress, that it seems hard to believe that I have actually suffered from it. The world is a truly remarkable place, and our bodies are even more so.
It’s an amazing thing, this body we live in. It can take us places and make us feel things, without moving an inch. We’re all just balls of energy and when we stop and tune in to listen, things ignite! After a meditation session, I’m suddenly more aware of everything. My mind? Clear and alert. My body? At peace and agile.
To be frank: meditation is totally awesome, and a real trip. When I commit and set off on a ten minute breathing journey, I learn things about myself I didn’t even know were possible. The best part? I feel like I just had the best vacation ever, and it didn’t cost a damn thing!
