I feel like it’s been a hot minute since we discussed Versace and Donatella’s reign on sex appeal.
Sunday, Donatella Versace kicked off the Fall 2015 haute couture season in Paris with an ethereal parade, straight out of a fairy tale. (A very sexy fairy tale, that is.)
Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss’s floral crown game was strong when they strutted down the runway in Atelier Versace’s Fall 2015 couture collection. After the bombshell Spring 2015 collection, Donatella got romantic this season – while still managing to keep that sexpot silhouette we know and love. My synopsis of the collection? Versace did right was Marchesa has been trying (and failing) to do all along! The collection perfectly fuses a bohemian and sexy aesthetic, yielding major goddess-like results.
While romantic and etheral, make no mistake – in true Versace fashion, the Fall 2015 couture collection was also supremely sexy. Miss Donatella is the authority on sex appeal, after all. Among the flowing chiffon and floral detailing, were body skimming corsets and sky high platforms, and of course a lot of toned flesh peeking through.
As a proud American celebrating 4th of July weekend, I couldn’t escape noticing the very Rodarte-esque vibes that sashayed down the runway. Most notably, Joan Smalls look – which is quite reminiscent of Rodarte’s mermaid dreams Spring 2015 collection (here). Added to the romance of the collection was a very whimsical feel, as though models were directly emerging from a pool of serenity. Perhaps this is as peaceful as Versace can get!
As I am in the habit of assigning grades to collections now, (because, come on…getting Judgy is half the fun!) I’m going to go ahead and give Atelier Versace Fall 2015 haute couture a solid A! What about you? Let me know in the comments. And of course, view the full collection here!
I’m thrilled to have couture season once again upon us! This heavenly week only comes about twice a year, and I am quite fond of my post-work ritual of a cocktail while browsing the latest from Paris. This week, Paris will debut couture fashions from classics like Chanel and Dior, while giving way to some special guests like Fendi. On Wednesday, Fendi premieres their couture collection – which is rumored to be quite fur-heavy. Of course, Karl Lagerfeld is not one to shy away from controversy, and the buzz surrounding the collection is status quo for everyone’s favorite silver haired hipster.
Dream in Lace will likely feature a collection or two more, but be sure to follow me on Twitter for more immediate updates. As always, I’ve also created a Pinterest board for my favorite looks on the runway! It’s couture season dreamers, saddle up!
Who are you most looking forward to at Couture Week?
