Recently Estee Lauder launched a brand new foundation, the new Perfectionist Foundation – which now sits beside the cult favorite Double Wear foundation at an Estee Lauder counter near you. It’s autumn, making it prime time for me to get back into my base and a new foundation is always exciting! And so I jetted off to my nearest Nordstrom to get color-matched by one of the nicest gals I’ve ever met. Seriously, Estee Lauder and MAC always have the best salesgirls. I don’t know what it is – but I always walk away with a new best friend 😉
Like all things Estee Lauder, the packaging is seriously on-point. Perfectionist comes in a hefty glass bottle with a sleek black pump. Because they know – us gals LOVE a good pump!
If you’re a fan of Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair serum (Which of course you are! Or, should be anyway) you’ll be excited to know that this foundation comes infused with the serum itself. And being an on-the-go gal, I really appreciate multi-use products…especially when its makeup that doubles as a form of skincare. I live in fear of crows feet and all things wrinkles, so I’ll take any help I can get! Plus, with the weather turning colder I think it’s the perfect time to inject a serum into my daily foundation. This is the time of year when I go a bit ‘serum happy’ and perhaps this will help combat dehydrated skin in the cold months of winter!
Like all foundation reviews, I think it’s best I break my love of this foundation into key points. Here we go!
Texture: This is a liquid foundation, but is on the thicker side. I’d compare the texture to MAC’s Studio Fix, although it does sit more lightly on the skin. It does set into that satiny/powdery finish that’s so popular among foundations these days. Meaning, the texture will change as this sets into your skin.
Coverage: Definitely a medium coverage foundation – with the capability of being built up in poor areas for ‘full coverage’. I really am happy with the coverage this gives and how nicely it conceals any redness or under-eye circles. It also doesn’t settle in or exaggerate fine lines or pores, AT ALL, which is a huge bonus!
Color Match: For those unaware, Estee Lauder‘s color system is great. Like MAC, they have the W-Warm and C-Cool tone shades, but they also have an N-Neutral range, making a large selection of colors available to help customers find a close color match. Fresco is definitely the perfect shade for me, as it virtually disappears into my skin. Definitely do get color matched though!
Finish: I’d define this as a natural, satin finish. It’s not entirely matte – but it’s very far from dewy. Honestly, it looks just like skin. So, the finish is skin! 😉
Longevity: HERE is where I start to get super super excited. I put my foundation on at 7-8 am – and typically don’t do any touch-ups or even look in the mirror till about 5:30 pm. That’s a long day and it takes a special foundation to hold up. Estee Lauder’s Perfectionist foundation is a champion. I’d definitely classify this as a long-wear foundation. Is it as long-lasting as Double Wear or Studio Fix? Probably not, but it’s really darn close which is fantastic for a foundation that doesn’t even proclaim to be long-wearing.
Through the day, Estee Lauder’s Perfectionist will not break apart in odd patches or start to get greasy. The product holds up well and doesn’t amplify any pores or lines over time. In fact, you could say this is a true friend! Sometimes I’ve even known foundation to get a bit creasy in my nose area – but not here. No sir! The foundation is really fantastic and will carry you from your work/school day straight into evening.
Overall: In case you couldn’t tell: I AM IN LOVE with Estee Lauder’s Perfectionist foundation. This is definitely one of my favorite beauty discoveries of the year and I feel pretty darn proud to still call myself an Estee Lauder gal. It’s a beautiful product that I receive many compliments on when I wear it. And as discussed, it contains the famous Advanced Night Repair, making this a truly special foundation. Now go, run RUN to your nearest Estee Lauder counter so you can fall in love with this too!
Are you an Estee Lauder girl too? What do you think of the Perfectionist foundation?

This is great news to me (I have a cousin that works at Estee Lauder) baha. I love estee lauder’s eyeshadows and it’s no wonder now how much I like Tom Ford’s :). However I haven’t tried any of their bases since I’m a bit scared of the thick base, but who knows maybe I will fall in love!
