Event : Amy Kirchen Fashion Show

When Amy Kirchen hosts a fashion show, I go running – literally. I’ll sign up for her classic and seductive designs anytime, even if that means scrambling from a long day of work to get there. To me, a trip to Amy Kirchen’s Boutique is like stepping into another world – with one sharp, chic lady holding the reigns. Kirchen’s aesthetic is filled with decadence and romance. Guests pass through white column pillars into her crystal showroom, lined with the finest garments and jewelry. It is a room so elegant you quite forget you’re tucked away in American suburbia. And so, an Alice in Wonderland theme that urged attendees to Enter through the Looking Glass couldn’t be more appropriate. Amy’s world is a beautiful place, and one I always appreciate a glimpse at.

An Amy Kirchen event is also always a good excuse to connect with another Amy in my life, Amy Wray of Mod City Magazine. It’s like, Amy Squared! Birds of a feather flock together, and these fashion-minded gals are lots of fun to hang out with. Sometimes us gals need time to gush about fashion over champagne (and cupcakes).

As you can see, I got a little snap happy when it came to taking pictures. But, the presence of such beauty paired with a glass or two of champagne made for some excitement. The Amy Kirchen event Cocktails & Couture showcased fine couture gowns, in the name the University of Cincinnati’s Memory Disorder Center (which focuses on brain health and Alzheimer prevention). Champagne, hors d’oeuvres by 20 Brix and cupcakes by Sugar floated around while we chatted over fashion before taking our seats, for what was sure to be a great collection.

The fashion show featured a masquerade of evening wear while continuing the Alice and Wonderland theme, as models adorned masks of the classic fairy tale characters. The whimsical and mysterious motif was quite spectacular and as each look passed I continually vowed ‘Oh, that’s my favorite…’ ‘No, THAT’s my favorite’ and so on. You know it’s a brilliant show when your internal debate on which look reigns supreme is a very real struggle. I loved Amy Kirchen’s attention to detail. Classic lines were brought to life with varying textures and ruching. The palette was definitely black, but never felt overdone. Each black look had its own direct point-of-view to set it apart from the collection.

Oh we see you there Amy, sitting perched in an onlooking window like a mother hen, overseeing your work in action. Truly, I loved Amy Kirchen’s signature fingerprints on everything. The night felt like a true celebration of the self and frankly, we should all celebrate ourselves more often. If you’ve got it, flaunt it! Right?

Overall, I’d say I was in real need of a fashion night out. Lately I’ve been working nonstop between my days at work and my nights devoted to Dream in Lace. I’ve had a hard time shifting the focus from my own agenda to focus in on someone else, or more specifically: fun! I think it was time to step away from the laptop, pick up a glass of champagne and lust over gowns (that I seriously need to concoct reasons to wear). Would it be overkill to do laundry in couture?
