Promising a hyperlight and transfer-proof formula, let’s put the updated KVD Beauty Everlasting liquid lipstick to the test.

Confession: There’s never a time where I am not looking for a great new lipstick.
In fact you could say it’s my number one guilty pleasure on the beauty front. There’s something so transformative about putting on a good lipstick that will carry you through the day with confidence. So when KVD Vegan Beauty revealed they were releasing a reformulated Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick collection my interest was PEAKED! The brand has always excelled with bold lip products that last.
I was also understandably curious how well the new variation would compare to the original formula.
And judging by the selection at my ULTA, I am not alone. Many of the new KVD Beauty shades were sold-out but I was able to snatch up a beautiful red tone for my lips. I fell so in love with the color that I immediately put it on as soon as I got in the car before carrying on with errands.

KVD Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
SHADE RANGE: 21
The updated KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipstick formula is currently available in 21 shades, ranging from everyday neutrals to deep berry tones, pops of red and even an alternative blue.
Many shades were sold out at my store but I picked up “Painted Tongue” — an orange-red. I really love this shade and think it would be flattering for all skin-tones.
UPDATES ON THE OLD FORMULA
Makeup aficionados know that the original liquid lipsticks from KVD have a strong reputation. So what’s happened to them? They’ve essentially been discontinued and replaced with a new formula that was designed for a light, comfortable feel on the lips.
Three popular shades from the original collection have also been renamed:
- LOLITA: Now Queen of Poison
- LOLITA II: Now Moonflower
- HAWKWIND: Now Snake Willow
NEW PACKAGING
The KVD Beauty Everlasting liquid lipstick collection touts updated packaging alongside the new formula. Since Kat Von D sold her shares to focus on new ventures, we’re seeing her presence slowly erased by the brand. The reformulated lipsticks are just the latest step in a new direction with slim, sleek packaging that makes no reference to tattoos.
LIGHTWEIGHT FORMULA
While extremely popular, the original KVD Beauty Everlasting liquid lipstick formula was one you definitely noticed one your lips — especially as time rolled on. Comfort was a sacrifice you made in the name of bold, long-lasting coverage but it’s a sacrifice you have to make no longer.
The updated formula has a whipped consistency that is soft, light and layers beautifully. It’s also much easier to apply while on-the-go.
BOLD, FULL-COVERAGE
The lighter formula has not in anyway sacrificed the bold pigmentation of the originals. The Everlasting liquid lipsticks remain full-coverage with a matte finish that leaves none of your natural lip color shining through.
DRYING?
I won’t say the liquid lipsticks are hydrating but I am pleased that they don’t make my lips feel as dry as the Sahara desert after a couple hours. The formula takes about 30 seconds to set after application and it wears nicely through the day without getting patchy or cakey.
TRANSFER-PROOF?
In addition to hyperlight, the KVD Beauty team amended that the Everlasting liquid lipsticks are transfer-proof — but I have to somewhat disagree. I love the product’s appearance on the lips but found that it does transfer when eating and drinking. Everything stays intact if giving a peck of a kiss but through a meal? No.
I’d say the lipsticks are more transfer-resistant than transfer-proof.
MODERATE WEAR TIME
The change to a lighter, more comfortable formula has definitely affected the KVD Beauty Everlasting liquid lipstick wear time. In my experiences, the old formula wore on lips for around 7 to 8 hours. I tested the new lipstick out for a few days and found I got 4 to 6 hours of solid wear time. The product does fade nicely, though, without any awkward patchiness.
SMOOTH AND EVEN APPLICATION
I am IN LOVE with how smoothly the whipped formula glides onto the lips — which for a matte product really says something!

The Pros
- Light and comfortable on the lips

The Cons
- The updated Lolita shades are not an exact match or dup to those from the original collection
- They have a transfer-resistant formula but are not entirely transfer-proof as named
- Not as long-lasting as the original formula
Overall Grade: B+
Do the new Everlasting liquid lipsticks last as long as the originals? No. Are they more comfortable to wear? Yes.
The changes may disappoint loyalists to the OG version but overall I’m quite happy with how the product looks, feels and wears on the lips. Ultimately, I think it all boils down to a matter of personal preference. To me, a more comfortable product that isn’t drying is worth sacrificing a bit of wear time.
I really appreciate just how easily the lipstick applies. Whether sat at my vanity or ready to dash out from the car, it glides on smoothly almost like a gloss but with gorgeous full-coverage pigmentation. If you’ve ever been skeptical of a liquid lipstick because of their tendency to be drying, I think you’ll be pretty pleased with how the KVD Beauty Everlasting liquid lipstick now feels.
