Altuzarra, Peter Do, Laquan Smith and more — meet the best NYFW Spring 2023 looks that have me already ready for next season.
Well, fashionistas, New York Fashion Week is back and gosh it’s good to see!
Fashion month got its official start on September 9 with a jam-packed schedule that brought names back to the Big Apple like Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford as well as special guests like Fendi. Before the pandemic even began, we were seeing NYFW have somewhat of an identity crisis with many labels heading overseas to Paris for showcasing their work.
But this season proved that what’s old can always made new again – especially in Manhattan.
BEST NYFW SPRING 2023 LOOKS
There was so much activity happening on the New York Fashion Week front this season that it took me a few extra days to digest it all. I think what I really love most about this season is not just the return of the infectious energy that used to radiate off the runways but also the range of artists in the Big Apple at the moment.
Mainstay labels like Michael Kors Collection and Carolina Herrera of course continue to have their place but we’re seeing such fantastic rising talent in their company as well. I am continually inspired by the unbound inspirations of Collina Strada, Dion Lee and Laquan Smith (to name a few). It’s made my NYC-loving heart sad watching the fashion scene struggle in reason years and it’s truly so wonderful to see creativity thrive once again in the urban jungle we know and love.
The CFDA might not always get it right but they have done a great job giving new and at times alternative ideas a platform.
So, my fellow fashionistas. Feast your eyes on the best NYFW Spring 2023 looks below and be sure to let me know if you have any favorites.
3.1 Phillip Lim
Phillip Lim always manages to find a new angle and for his SS23 collection, it’s pleats! Be it as a neckline, an accent at the waist or in a midi skirt – this mixed media look is super cool.
Adam Lippes
From the oversized cloche hat to the intricate lace detailing of the skirt, Adam Lippes delivered not just one of the best NYFW spring 2023 looks but maybe the best execution of summer white from the whole season!
ADEAM
An area where Adeam always excels is footwear and while I do have my reservations about crocs — the croc-inspired platforms are a twist I’m surprised to say I really enjoy.
ALIETTE
A look that shines as bright as the burning summer sun.
ALTUZARRA
We’ve watched Altuzarra flirt with tie dye in recent years but for Spring 2023 – it’s full speed ahead!
Badgley Mischka
Movement and shine? An always winning combination.
Badgley Mischka
Yes! You find yourself Badgley Mischka once again among the best NYFW spring 2023 looks but this time in a Barbie-core sequined pantsuit that I seriously hope is in Margot Robbie’s future.
Brandon Maxwell
It doesn’t surprise me to include Brandon Maxwell among the best NYFW spring 2023 looks but if you told me it would include a cardigan I doubt I’d believe you. But there’s something so perfect about the layering of a tee, sweater and blazer over a sequined micro mini. It has a sugary sweetness that’s also surprisingly sophisticated.
Carolina Herrera
Surely you can manifest something great off this crystalized cocktail number!
Christian Cowan
I love that Christian Cowan made a hat that *almost* matches the wide circumference of the gown. Go big!
COACH
I love how the fitted, clean look of this jacket offsets the kitschiness off the jelly shoes (that are poised for a major comeback). Stuart Vevers really is an expert of balancing fun and intelligence.
Collina Strada
The whimsical nature Strada brings to design is never lost and this Bohemian look is ready for festival season.
Dion Lee
Denim, denim and more denim!
Dion Lee
Where art meets fashion.
Jonathan Simkhai
No one embraces color more organically than Simkhai. No one.
Jonathan Simkhai
It’s giving super chic toga party for me.
Laquan Smith
A coat so great it’ll make you beg for spring showers.
Michael Kors
Michael Kors’s collections often blur into one another but I love the sexy Working Girl approach of this slinky red ensemble.
Naeem Khan
I love the fluidity of this gown. It truly feels like the sea in motion!
Peter Do
Sharp as a tack.
Prabal Gurung
As a lover all things mint – you won’t find me objecting to it potentially becoming a trend next spring.
Private Policy
A Y2k-inspired tie dye dress with platform sandals that will have you feeling like you live in Euphoria!
Studio 189
A fresh take on a pinstripe suit that’s perfect for the office — except remember to wear shoes.
Tanner Fletcher
Soft florals for spring aren’t exactly ground breaking but I think this would be so beautiful worn to a bridal shower next season.
Tibi
As my favorite color, there’s no way I could resist a purple inclusion among my best NYFW spring 2023 looks but I love this relaxed, oversized fit. It’s the perfect blend of style and comfort.
Tory Burch
There are criticisms that Tory’s work has become overly commercial but I thought her Spring 2023 collection was more inspired than we’ve seen in quite some time from her!
Ulla Johnson
A sundress that’s perfect for jotting around midtown but also on vacation! I think this pattern would also work really well layered over a turtleneck for fall.
Veronica Beard
As a whole, the Spring 2023 collection from Veronica Beard played heavily on sets but it was a slinky halter dress paired with an oversized mint blazer that most stole my heart.
Carolina Herrera
Wes Gordon really has settled in quite well as Herrera’s successor and you can tell he’s feeling at home leading her legacy. To weave a spirit of new life and joy into the SS23 collection – he featured a few different floral prints. I love the way the blue and green pop off the black backdrop of this A-line midi dress. Perfectly romantic for a nighttime look.
