At last, KIKO eco-friendly makeup and skincare has arrived in the US! The new Green Me collection uses natural ingredients and is in biodegradable packaging made from plants.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t follow the cleanest and most eco-friendly beauty routine out there. But, like many – I want to do better. Updates like swapping out disposable cotton pads for washable bamboo rounds and limiting single use plastic have been easy fixes. No, becoming a “do gooder” will not erase the sins of my past but I can do better today and tomorrow.
After all, I frickin’ LOVE this planet and I want generations to come to love it too!!
All that said, I think it’s pretty obvious why the line of KIKO eco-friendly products becoming available in the US was music to my ears. These launched in Italy last year and it’s great to see them make their way to the states. Any brand stepping up to the plate to research ways to continue creating products but in a much more responsible way gets my nod of approval and I simply had to test some things out!
Meet the Kiko Eco-Friendly Line
Dubbed “Green Me”, the KIKO eco-friendly collection features a full lineup of makeup and skincare products made with natural, earth-derived ingredients.
As lovely as all that sounds, though – I was concerned about the packaging. After all, what could are natural ingredients if they’re piled into plastic that’s going to be hanging out in a landfill for eternity? Fortunately for us all, Kiko clearly had that thought as well and found a way to package everything in natural and biodegradable materials. The paper is recycled and the plastic is made from plants! Which is pretty gosh darn nifty, if I do say so.
What’s included in the KIKO Green Me collection? A LOT. It’s essentially a full line of makeup and skincare, including:
- Two 9-pan eyeshadow palettes
- 6-Pan eyeshadow palette
- Liquid eyeliner
- Voluminous mascara
- Matte lipsticks
- Lip-and-cheek sticks
- Highlighter
- Blush
- Bronzer
- Nail polish
- Nail polish remover
- Synthetic makeup brushes
- Facial cleanser
- BB cream
- Face cream
- Eye gel
KIKO has always been a “makeup brand” to me, so I was especially intrigued by the skincare items included in the collection as well as the BB Cream. I have a love of a good lightweight tinted moisturizer or the like and am always down to find a new favorite.
Dipping my toes into the Kiko eco-friendly line, I picked up a few things to try and am ready to report my findings back to you, below!
The KIKO Eco-Friendly BB Cream
- Available in 6 shades
- Formulated with aloe extract and hyaluronic acid
- Lightweight on the skin
- Radiant finish
- Oil-free
- Fragrance-free
- Vegan
- $16 (Currently 30% off though!!)
- Shop at KIKO
My Findings:
While dubbed a BB cream, this is actually more of a tinted hydrator. I have been LOVING the product on my skin as a daytime moisturizer that has a little bit of coverage. It’s an excellent choice for weekends or days when you’re not feeling makeup but want to feel a bit pulled together. I’m also happy to say this wears really well through throughout the day and is wonderfully light on the skin.
I definitely think this will be my new go-to tinted moisturizer and will even go so far as to say it’s a dupe for my favorite from Tarte — but with packaging that’s MUCH better for the planet and half the price. Win, win!!
My Grade: A
The Eco-Friendly KIKO Eye Gel
- Lightweight, gel formula
- Made with aloe vera and mint
- Cooling sensation on the skin
- Vegan
- $18
- Shop at KIKO
My Findings:
While I’m of the belief that a fantastic cleansing, toning, serum then moisturizer skincare regiment does not need a product for the eyes, the mint drew me in here.
As discussed in my recent favorite self-care products discussion, there’s something very calming and soothing to me about a product that cools on the skin. So ultimately, I this up expecting it won’t do much for my eye area in terms of skincare benefits but will be something to reach for when I’m trying to unwind at the end of a long day. For that reason, I saw this definitely works. If you’re looking for an eye cream for moisturizing purposes – skip it.
My Grade: B
The KIKO Green Me Gentle Cleanser
- Gel texture that foams with use
- Contains Aloe Vera and Mint Extract, similar to the eye gel
- Leaves skin feeling soft and nourished
- $13
- Shop at KIKO
My Findings:
I’ll admit, I was skeptic this cleanser would be able to get the job done for me. Lately I’ve been wearing the new NARS Soft Matte full-coverage foundation like my life depends on it and I suspected its superpower strength would dissolve this gel cleanser into nothing.
Boy was I wrong!! This lathers so nicely. While cleansing, the product thickens and foams up on the skin — cutting through several layers of makeup with a surprise amount of ease. To be thorough, I tested the cleanser on its own as well as with a facial brush and found that it works pretty much the same either way. I will 100% be picking this up again!
My Grade: A
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Overall, I have to say I am quite happy with my purchases from KIKO’s eco-friendly line! The intention behind these products and their packaging is great. I’ve always been a big believer in the say “Just because something has always been done that way doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way,” and I think this collection represents that perfectly.
We’ve all become so accustomed to beauty the way mega companies like Estee Lauder have created it to be, loaded with unnecessary additives and in plastic packaging. The Green Me collection from KIKO is a refreshing way of stripping things, using natural ingredients with eco-friendly packaging.
I’m 100% going to be purchasing the BB Cream again and again that’s a dupe for my favorite from Tarte because of this approach as well as the cleanser. Making changes to our routine in such a way, picking products that are more earth-friendly where we can is a positive step in the right direction! xo
