It’s a standing, biannual tradition – Nicholas K kicking off New York Fashion Week with their latest collection. That’s right folks, NYFW is upon us once again and for Fall 2016, Nicholas K got moody!
At the risk of sounding completely foolish, there’s something about Nicholas K that makes me feel like binge-watching past seasons of Homeland. And, not because they remind me of Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) who I’ve fondly (and appropriately) nicknamed “Bae”. There’s just something so worldly and bad ass about the way Christopher and Nicholas Kunz design clothes.
For Fall 2016, the Kunz brother/sister duo focused on the nomad. In a palette of amethyst, desert and night shade – urban wanderers charged the New York runway in off the shoulder dresses, tunics and ponchos. Headgear is always a prime focus for Nicholas K, and for the Fall 2016 collection models wore leather skull caps and hand carved hair picks. You know, totally casual.
Being a purple obsessed freak, I of course favor the aubergine looks of the collection, but no doubt – Nicholas K kind of killed it. There’s no denying the brand marches to the beat of its own drum – designing masculine clothes that celebrate the female form. The collection has all the grit we know and love from Nicholas K, while pushing the brand forward.
The runway show also featured a strong beauty look, with hair by Macadamia and makeup by Stila. Bold lips and matte skin, paired with shining side-knotted locks. It was a strong but effective look that compliments the strength of the collection and the mood of the autumn season.
It feels both wonderful and intimidating to once again be New York Fashion Week. My schedule these days is a bit unpredictable, but as always – I’m committed to reporting highlights from the runway on Dream in Lace…even if that means no sleep…
Of course, while not every collection will make it directly onto Dream in Lace, my social media will be abuzz with favorite looks and behind-the-scenes shots from the best shows. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook. to not miss a thing! I know that sounds like a lot, but I really do scatter content on all of the above!
Thank you SO much for reading and I look forward to dishing on all the NYFW madness with you over the next week! Tis’ the season, after all.
