Oh gosh do I love a multi-use product!
As someone who admittedly “hits pan” on makeup products rarely — it’s always a joy to find a product where I know I’m going to get every cent of its worth. The latest addition to the block? The Nº1 Chanel Lip Cheek Balm collection that comes in array of spring-ready shades that also deliver a healthy boost of moisture.
I spotted these while celebrating that Ulta now carries Chanel Beauty (woop woop) and simply couldn’t resist picking one up to review for you here. Most of the shades where sold out but my favorite “Wake-Up Pink” was actually still available and on its way to my doorstep in a flash. It’s the perfect coral to add a cheerful wash of color in these final grey days of winter and I couldn’t wait to put it to the test.
Keep reading below for the full scoop on how we well we did – or didn’t – get along!
Nº1 CHANEL LIP CHEEK BALM
The new Nº1 Chanel Lip Cheek balm collection offers six shades:
- RED CAMELLIA: Deep Classic Red
- HEALTHY PINK: Medium Soft Pink
- VITAL BEIGE: Deep Pink with Brown Undertones
- WAKE-UP PINK: Coral Pink (Photographed in this post)
- LIVELY ROSEWOOD: Raspberry Pink
- BERRY BOOST: Garnet Red
Formulated with Camellia Oil
A key ingredient of the new Chanel lip cheek balm is camellia oil — that comes with number of benefits for the skin:
- Hydrating with vitamins that nourish the skin and leave it feeling like velvet
- Reduces redness and inflammation
- Can help minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots
- Known to improve the skin’s elasticity
It’s always a bonus for me when a makeup product takes things a step further with added skincare benefits so this was of course music to my ears. I’m loving that we’re seeing more skin-loving ingredients in makeup and hope this is a trend that’s here to stay!
Glossy, Tacky Texture
The thing with balms that always have me a bit skeptical is if they’ll be able to last on the skin. It’s hard to strike the balance between a product that holds in place but also blends out nicely and I’m happy to say the Chanel team got it right here.
I particularly have been loving the Nº1 Chanel lip cheek balm as my daily blush. It’s so beautiful atop the apples of my cheeks and blends out beautifully to create the perfect “flushed” look without making me look like clown.
How Long Does the Product Last?
On the lips, the balm definitely doesn’t have the staying power of a standard lipstick. But I’ve enjoyed using this more as a tool to hydrate my lips during these final weeks of winter and after letting it all set apply a liquid lipstick on top.
Now for the cheeks — we have a whole different story!
The balm truly lasts all day and it makes me so happy when I look in the mirror at night to see that my cheeks still have that nice wash of color. Cream blushes are really outstanding when it comes to staying powder and tacky texture of the product helps increase its longevity.
How to Apply
I use my fingers to dab the product onto my cheeks and blend out. On occasion, I have used a brush for the blending but isn’t really necessary. How easily this arrives makes it a terrific option to stash in your purse for on-the-go application!
97% Plant-Derived Ingredients
Another fantastic thing we’re seeing from beauty brands at the moment is the increasing amount of natural ingredients they’re using. The entire Nº1 de Chanel line has a goal to minimize environmental impact as much as possible. The formula is sustainably developed with 97% naturally derived ingredients. The products also feature environmentally sound packaging for a further reduced carbon footprint. Furthermore, you can recycle the products at places like L’Occitane to reduce waste even more.

The Pros
- Multi-functional product
- Nicely pigmented
- Applies and blends easily to both the cheeks and lips
- Camellia seed oil hydrates, nourishes and protects your moisture barrier
- Beautiful shade selection with options for every skintone
- Incredibly long-lasting when used as a blush on the cheeks
- Formulated with 97% natural ingredients and eco-friendly packaging
The Cons
- Coverage is sheer on the lips. If you prefer a more full-coverage lipstick, you can apply that over top
- Will fade on the lips quickly through drinking, eating, etc.
- Currently difficult to get your hands on as the product is only available from Ulta and Chanel right now. Hopefully more retailers will pick the line up so its more readily available.
OVERALL GRADE: A-
Those who’ve seen my February 2022 favorites will already know this but yes — I’ve fallen quite a bit in love with the new Chanel lip cheek balm. It has become my go-to blush at the moment and I’m eager to add more colors to my collection because I’m so impressed with how it lasts throughout the day. I even find myself reaching for this over my favorites from Rare Beauty, which is really saying something.
If it’s a new long-wearing blush option that hydrates your skin through the day you’re after, I definitely recommend checking these out if you get the chance!
