It’s official: the Spring 2020 couture week season has begun! And things got off to a lavish start on Monday when the Georges Hobeika spring couture collection debuted on the runway in Paris.

The zest of a new year has worn off and we’re settling into the bleak days of January. Hibernating indoors, we stow ourselves away from the cold temperatures outside while longing from warmer days…and more colorful landscapes. Then, in come the spring couture collections to lift our spirits with promise of great things to come! January’s couture week offers a much appreciated change of pace for our eyes than the infinite gray that endures outside our winter windows.
Couture week is truly the perfect sartorial pick me up, if you ask me!
A Cheerful Georges Hobeika Spring Couture Collection
When brainstorming how to tackle couture week coverage this season on Dream in Lace, I knew for sure I’d want to revel in the latest Georges Hobeika spring couture offering with you. Season after season, I ooh and ahh over Hobeika’s endless talent and it’s been far far too long since I last discussed his couture week presence. (Specifically, not since this post on his DELICIOUS Fall 2017 couture collection.)
We’re in a new decade now and kicking off runway coverage with a celebration of Georges Hobeika seems like a really nice place to start! Even more so when you consider how particularly magnanimous his spring couture collection truly is. With an impressive 57, there was quite a lot to see on the Paris runway.
From day to eveningwear with even some menswear sprinkled in, the 2020 Georges Hobeika spring couture collection accentuates his talent for flawless craftsmanship and delivers a feast for the eyes that is guaranteed to lift spirits.
The spring collection is also a fabulously extra tribute to joy and liberty – which I think we can all agree are needed these days. Specifically, Hobeika cites three influences:
- The force of nature
- The ecstasy of freedom
- The philosophy of entertainment
To bring these ideas to life, the Georges Hobeika spring couture collection takes a sartorial trip to the Mediterranean. Floral embellishments and prints paint a colorful landscape that have me wanting to book my next beach vacation, pronto. Then there’s exquisite gold sequins and beading to creatively represent the seaside sand.
As a whole, it’s a fun collection that plays with volume and shape to create an engaging atmosphere. And, as we’ve come to expect from Hobeika, each piece is impeccably made with intricate detailing and the finest fabrics. Tis’ couture, after all!
