While the 2020 Giambattista Valli fall couture collection was unable to debut on the runways of Paris, it certainly did not scale back on the glamour!
In a year when just about everything has changed, fashionistas around the globe received a refreshing taste of normalcy this week with the new Giambattista Valli fall couture collection.
Yes, travel restrictions and social distancing measures prevented a traditional Parisian runway show for its debut. But, for the 2020 Autumn/Winter season, Valli in no way scaled back on his love of voluminous shapes and larger-than-life statement designs. In fact, you could say he went all in – doubling down on his signature approach that has become a beloved part of today’s fashion landscape.
Giambattisa Valli Fall Couture Collection
In its press release, the latest Giambattista Valli fall couture collection is said to be an ode to Paris and the excellence of dressmaking.
Valli writes a love letter to the City of Light through 18 voluminous creations. Pops of red represent red lipstick stains left on cafe coffee cups. Pink symbolizes the wild roses growing in the city’s urban gardens. And ivory pays tribute to the moulures (or crown modeling) that so famously accentuate Parisian windows and ceilings.
While a traditional runway show was not possible this season, the atelier creatively presented Giambattista Valli’s 2020 fall couture collection in a 12-minute video. The visual presentation beautiful demonstrates the impeccable movement of his designs, as well as side-by-side imagery of the Parisian sites that inspired them.
No doubt, the new Giambattista Valli fall couture collection is gorgeous. It also provides a positive bit of escapism during an all around challenging year. And so, I’m pleased to share with you the video below as well as lookbook images of the full collection for more detail.
