Live-music by Daphne Guinness, glitz, drama and an epic battle of good v. evil? The Blonds Fall 2018 runway show truly had it all!
After a few seasons, I’m of the mindset that no one does a New York Fashion Week show quite like The Blonds.
Designer Phillipe Blond and Creative Director David Blond turn your typical NY runway show into a club-like experience. Fashion-lovers flock to the scene in their flashiest of outfits, ready to sip on refreshing drinks amidst dramatic lighting and booming music while the stage is set for the newest collection’s debut. The guest list always features exciting faces and there’s an infectious, pulsating energy in the room that few shows on the current NYFW circuit can bring to the table.
And so, it goes without saying that I was beyond excited to race from Chelsea to TriBeca for The Blonds Fall 2018 runway show in February. Crowding into Spring Studios, guests were practically bursting to take in the new designs and with the clock ticking – enthusiasm only grew with each passing minute. Before the show even began, we all got to enjoy the sights and sounds of Lil Kim as she made a grand entrance with her classic beats. Queen, indeed!
The Blonds Fall 2018 Shows Good v. Evil
With a backdrop overlooking the nighttime skies of TriBeca and eery red lighting, The Blonds Fall 2018 collection showed a dramatic display of good v. evil. Renaissance art, John Milton’s Paradise Lost, Dante’s Inferno and the film Lucifer Rising were among some of the inspirations named for a fall collection. To bring good v. evil creations to life, devilish stud and spike details were balanced with more heavenly embroidered lace, pearls and elegant crystals.
From open to close, The Blonds Fall 2018 runway show was, in fact, a SHOW.
The runway opened with The Blonds designer Phillipe Blond walking the runway in a studded, red leather jumpsuit – capped off with aptly placed devil horns. From there, models filtered down the runway in flashy jumpsuits, corsets and body suits before a dramatic closing with the legendary Daphne Guinness that included a live performance of her next single Riot.
A Show to be Seen to Believe
Per usual, The Blonds Fall 2018 runway show was an experience. The 9 pm show ran closer to a 10 pm start, but was truly worth the wait and takes top billing as one of my ultimate favorites of New York Fashion Week this season. Phillipe and David Blond are truly masters of creation and know how to deliver with a punch!
A big thank you to The Blonds and EB Consultants Worldwide for inviting me to such an exciting show and sharing these striking images from the runway. Photos are credited to LECCA.
