I must have a thing for holes in clothing. Lately, if it’s got holes – I’m all over it. Sure, maybe it’s not the most practical way to dress yourself, but it sure is cool looking. Enter Rodarte Spring 2015 Collection with some seriously cool boots that are going to give Tom Ford a run for his money. Also hole-ish? The mesh netting. I’m over sheer paneling in clothes, but if you substitute for mesh – I’m somehow ALL over it, like white on rice. (Although we all know brown rice is better for you..)
And with so much coolness going on already, you’d think the wow-factor would stop there. Oh, but NO! Next in comes smooth shimmery mermaid dresses, and not mermaid in terms of an over-the-top fishtail. No, here we’re talking subtle and sleek mermaid silhouettes. Basically, it’s like a dream collection for any girl out there who has ever fallen in love with The Little Mermaid, (which is basically everyone so you know what I mean).
I really love all the elements of each look. Different textures and patterns work together to present an overall eclectic, mishmash – that instead of coming off as jumbled, is actually quite delicate. And asymmetrical hemlines are BACK, in a big way – as are razor backs. Overall, two very sporty hemlines that add youth and spirit to the collection.
And can we also take a minute to gush over the way the embellishments and shimmers reflect light in the same way light reflects off the surface of the ocean. A well thought out detail that’s always just right and never too much. (Which, let’s be real: when dealing with sparkles, there is always the risk of going overboard.)
