Faux fur and recycled plastic aplenty, the Colovos Fall 2018 Collection is filled with winter wear that’s stylish, warm, fashion-forward….and sustainable.
Fun Tip: Be sure not to walk with your phone out in the cold wind on the first day of New York Fashion Week. Because, warning, it will totally zap your battery and leave you looking like a buffoon upon arrival at the Colovos Fall 2018 runway show.
“Yes, I swear I’m invited. I just, uh, can’t turn my phone on to pull up the confirmation.”
Sure lady, sure. *wink*
Stressed arrival aside, the Colovos show was a wonderful way to kick-off NYFW. Upon getting inside, I was able to safely rewarm my phone and get it charging up in preparation for an incredible show. After all, what kind of ‘fashion blogger’ would I be if I didn’t have my phone in hand to ooh and ahh over every look filtering its way down the runway?
Breaking Down Colovos Fall 2018
I was truly honored to be in attendance at the Colovos Fall 2018 runway show and take in every detail of the collection in person. The light and airy Varick Street venue was also the perfect setting for such a street-style approved collection that seems best worn in the natural elements.
From the very first look, I knew: this is going to be winter wear you can actually get comfortable in. Praise be to that!
In total, the collection features 25 looks that effortlessly mix texture, print and color. More than that? Each piece is ethically designed using cruelty-free and sustainable elements to present winter wear in an environmentally sound fashion. (Pun intended.)
Celebrating All Things Faux and Sustainable
Reading through the show notes, I was delighted to learn that the Colovos Fall 2018 collection used not just faux fur but faux leather as well!
Given that we’re in the height of the fall/winter runway season, that was a very important and distinguished detail that I think we should all applaud. Husband and wife design duo Michael and Nicole Colovos are able to bring in luxe, heavier fabrics for the season that don’t sacrifice warmth to be cruelty-free.
Recycled Plastic = Fabric
In addition to the faux animal skins and furs, the collection also features a striking orange fabric that is constructed from recycled plastic bottles that were extracted from the ocean. Yes, you read that correctly! Plastic bottles from the ocean were removed, recycled and repurposed as colorful fabric. How incredible AMAZING is that???

What a Great Start to Fashion Week
I honestly can’t think of a better way to start off New York Fashion Week than with a collection that infuses sustainable responsibility with hardcore style as Colovos Fall 2018 so expertly delivers. It’s tremendously important to think about the footprint the fashion industry has on the environment and I’m thankful to Colovos for perfectly demonstrating that responsible, stylish fashion is the way to go.
To get the full picture of such a striking collection, I highly suggest you head over to the Colovos website to take in the full runway show. Of course, while you’re then you can pop around to absorb and shop all the other great work Nicole and Michael have to offer.
A big thank you to Colovos and the Purple PR team for kindly inviting me to the show and sharing these beautiful images from the runway.
Stay stylish and chase your dreams!
XOXO
