Those dreamers who have been with me since the beginning will already know….but New York Fashion Week is kinda of a thing around here.

Fashion in general puts extra pep in my step – but there’s something about NYFW that sparks an energy and enthusiasm that I can’t quite explain. And so I am DELIGHTED that at long last the new season is here. Ever since February I feel like 2017 has been a series of one unfortunate event after the next and I am bursting with excitement to embrace and pour over the spring collections with you over the coming days!

To my newer readers, welcome! And I hope you enjoy the ride. It’s going to be a lot of fun and basically from now till next Wednesday I’ll be aflutter over all the happenings on the runway. Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram as well because I’ll be ALL OVER those, too. (Like I said, NYFW is a thing around here.)

Okay! Now that I feel we’ve established it’s NYFW once again – let’s get onto Pamella Roland because she really kicked things off with a BANG this season!

The Pamella Roland Spring 2018 Experience

First, on more sad note, I was unable to attend the Pamella Roland show this season because I’m gearing up for a big nonprofit fundraising event in Cincinnati. When the invitation arrived, I was crying inside because the show is always such a delight and was once again hosted at the Chelsea Piers – which is such a beautiful venue and truly one of my favorite spots in the city. Knowing I couldn’t possibly attend unless I somehow learned to clone myself or control time ala Hermione in The Prisoner of Azkaban wasn’t the happiest of moments.

Personal pity party aside…the team at Purple PR are spot on excellent and shared so much beautiful imagery from the show that I feel like I was vicariously attending through their photographs in the end.

Are You Ready for a Trip to Monte Carlo?

Back your bags because for Spring/Summer 2018 – Pamella Roland takes us on a trip to glamorous Monte Carlo!

Monte Carlo is truly home to the ultimate of luxuries and Pamella’s SS18 collection certainly does the decadence of this famous seaside town justice. Models cascaded down the runway in 33 dramatic looks, each unique but with an overarching, luxurious theme. (Naturally.) Embroidered lace, metallic fringe, crystal, sequined firework motifs, scalloping and feather plums are just some of the posh detailing that decorates Pamella’s latest fairy tale designs.

The silhouettes of the collection evolve with each look, weaving from streamlined Grace-Kelly lines to flowing rich fabrics and pleated tulle evening gowns. There’s even a few dramatic capes thrown in for added fun and flare. The lavand the lavishness of this collection makes it oh so beautiful to look at – and that much more fun to wear.

After all, minimalism is not the name of the game in Monte Carlo.

A Royal Palette

For this season’s color palette, Pamella showcased her signature royal tones of navy and cobalt alongside dreamy fuchsia, blush and lilac. As the perfect cherry on top, Artistry crafted a beautiful makeup of glossy pink lips and a smoked out neutral eye to perfectly compliment the collection.

Backstage before the show, the finishing touches are put on the collection and the hair and makeup comes to life. Yesterday, it was a cool and dreary day in NYC – but at the Pamella Roland show? Not at all. The spirit of spring was definitely in the air!

And now, I hope you’re ready for a sartorial feast because you’re going to go backstage as the hair and makeup looks spring into action, the final touches are put on the collection and models take their places before showtime. It’s all part of the experience, dontcha know?

Continually, I’m blown away by Pamella Roland’s exquisite detailing and infinite inspirations. Be it her backyard garden or luxurious Monte Carlo, she truly is a master at spinning an idea into a striking collection that inspires real emotion when you take in the beautiful designs. I feel we’re all so fortunate to have her on the NYFW schedule season after season and I look forward to seeing where she’ll takes us next for Pre-Fall and Fall 2018 collections.
