It’s NYFW once again! Take a peek inside my makeup bag and check out these fashion week beauty products that make running on little to no sleep an absolute breeze.
Hi there! I’m currently sat on an airplane (sipping a cocktail in first class), speeding fast towards New York Fashion week – which literally feels like the first hour and a half I’ve had to catch my breath in days. Things have been crazy busy but I’m finally going to get to take in some shows and just can’t wait to be in NYC again. *woo*
Whilst quickly throwing my suitcase together as fast as I possibly could, I snapped a few shots of what I’m bringing along with me in my makeup bag. It seems I’ve been trying a LOT of new products out lately and am smitten with newbies — while gravitating to old standby favorites I can always rely on.
Fashion Week Beauty Products – Kelly Approved
And so that’s what today’s post: the fashion week beauty products I’m turning to to get my through a couple busy days. When you’re juggling lots of shows and your mind has a million things going on, the very last thing you want to worry about is your makeup – right? Right.
These travel makeup gems are A+ winners in my book. Be it fashion week, or any other time, they’re products that won’t fail you. That’s right…they get the official Dream in Lace seal of approval!
Dr. Lancer Skincare – ‘The Method’ Travel Collection
Wow. That’s what comes to mind when I think about these Lancer skincare TREASURES! I received these in my Influenster Vox box and fell in love with all of them immediately – particularly the exfoliating polish treatment. It’s for a wonderful lavender base and is gritty, but fine, and totally reinvigorating to my skin. The system in total includes a cleanser, exfoliating polish, face and eye cream. All of the above are slam dunk favs but the polish is truly out of this world. Spoken as someone who uses a Clarisonic on the regular and has tried numerous exfoliating products -it’s next level. Whether you have younger or older skin, I think you’ll find this makes you look more refreshed, fresh and awake – even if you haven’t slept in four days..which brings me to…
Loreal Lash Paradise Mascara
Not too long ago I declared the new Loreal Lash Paradise mascara to be a dupe for Too Faced’s cult favorite ‘Better than Sex’ mascara…and I still stand by that statement. You can of course read more about it in this post here, but the gist is that the wands are nearly identical and have virtually the same affect on your lashes. The difference? L’Oreal clocks in about more than half the price. You’re welcome!
Dolce and Gabbana Perfect Matte Foundation
I’ve sung this foundation’s praises before…but here I am do to it again. What is so genius about DG’s miracle foundation is that though it has a matte finish, it is has a very youthful and radiant appearance. When I’m sleep deprived (be it one night or DAYS), I can rely on this to appear as though I’m returning from a five-day retreat. This foundation is truly ideal at any ole’ time, but particularly during fashion week when I average about 3-4 hours of sleep a night like a mad woman. #Oops.

Dermalogica Stress-Free Eye Lift Cream
Another product I’ve discussed before but love SO MUCH I simply had to bring with me to NYFW is the Dermalogical Stress-Free Eye Lift cream. When my eyes are tired and swollen (which they’re bound to be this week) I throw this on both before I hit the hay for bed and when I wake in the morning. It does work beautifully if you just apply in the morning but for extremes (like fashion week) I go ALL IN and do morning and night. The cooling gel consistency paired with the cooling metal tip make for a soothing application to your tire eyes. I let this sink in for about five minutes (usually while drinking coffee), then smooth in any excess and set out to do my makeup. Voila! The perfect fashion week beauty product, indeed!
Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette
Oh look, the perfect eyeshadow palette that even after ALL this time of using it…I still haven’t managed to find anything else that holds up as well as the Lorac palette. Yes, I usually use the Lorac primer with these…but even when I don’t these bad boys hold their pigment and last…and last…and last, all day. (Yes, even in extremely hot and humid conditions.) Quite honestly, I don’t know how Lorac does it but I’m beyond in love and will continue to turn to this palette again and again when I need a solid eye look that’s in it for the long haul.
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer
Perhaps you’re noticing a trend here: during fashion week you more than likely will be tired and a heavy-duty concealer is a must. My current favorite no nonsense concealer comes from Lancome and I’ve honestly never heard anyone talk about it. I personally happen to be a BIG fan of the Teint Idole foundations and so was all-in to test out their concealer. This shade is a bit more pinky/red, so counteracts any dark undereye circles nicely. The concealer also has a surprisingly creamy concealer, for something deemed ‘ultra wear camouflage’ and blends into the skin beauifully.
L’Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighter
I’ve tried YSL, Estee Lauder and MAC’s variations of the highlight pen and found that the L’Oreal Lumi is just as fabulous, but at a fraction of the price. Generally speaking, you might just say that L’oreal is my favorite of the drugstore beauty brands? I mean, that’s a BOLD statement but they really do impress me time and time again. The lumi concealer almost has a whipped-like texture to it that blends flawlessly into the skin…even atop heavy duty concealer like Lancome’s. It nicely brightens those areas where you need it (hello, undereye). to leave you feeling ever so refreshed and radiant. Thank you, L’oreal!
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipsticks
Last, but certainly not least, are YSL’s dreamy shine lipsticks. While funky and bold colors and finishes are fun – when you’re in a mad rush, they’re not always practical. (Particularly when you don’t have time to stop and apply in a mirror.) Beyond favorite fashion week beauty products, I carry one of these bad boys in my purse at ALL time. They smooth on so easily, are colorful and look beautiful on the lips…while lasting much longer than your typical shines. Want to know what lipstick I’m wearing above? It’s shade 06 ‘Pink in Devotion’. Absolutely adore it!!
All-in-all, when it comes to fashion week beauty products – I turn to great skincare, followed by a brilliant foundation and concealer. You’ll look so great that you’ll trick people into thinking that you got a solid 8 hours of sleep rather than a few, tossing and turning.
Even if you’re not going to fashion week, I think you’ll be mighty impressed how well each of these products holds up in a variety of weather conditions. (Which truly, is what the world needs and will continue to need now.)
Once Again, Happy Fashion Week!
Big apologies I haven’t posted as much from NYFW as I would have liked to by now…but between preparing to head out east, a lot of things going on at work and just my all around nuttery…it’s been crazy. I do promise to make it up to you though, so if there are specific collections you’d like to see reviewed on Dream in Lace…lemme know!
And be sure to follow me on Instagram because I’ll finally be in New York and will be swooning over all the fashions and ingesting all the insanely delicious vegan goodies here.
