The other night I was flipping around through all sorts of analytics and it was really interesting to see what types of posts and specifically brands catch the most attention around these parts. Halston is a brand I’ve admired for years but have never really talked about before except here in there in posts about holiday sales.

Well, it would seem that a lot of you guys are big fans of the brand like me! I couldn’t believe how much attention any mention of Halston received. For some reason that was a really unexpected discovery, but also a great one.

So – as we enter the new season, I thought why not gather round and take a look at the new Halston Fall Collection? The news designs dropped just this week and are ripe for the taking.

Generally speaking, the collection is gorgeous. It also features a variety of styles that suitable for both day and eveningwear. Today, though, I more specifically want to focus on the styles that are perfect for the office.

When it comes to 9-to-5 dressing, I feel there’s a big misconception that buttoned shirts, cardigans and blazers should be your work uniform.

Yes, yes. Those do work in an office setting – but I’m here to give you permission to have a little bit more fun than that should you like! It’s very doable to flex your style a little bit when dressing for work while still maintaining a professional appearance.

To me, there’s also something innately “boss mode” about Halston’s aesthetic. Whenever I’m feeling in a bit of a rut, their website is one of my favorite places to turn to find some fresh ideas. My hope is that this post will give you a little inspo too!

Playing with Color and Silhouette

Digging through the Halston Fall collection – I definitely noticed how the styles inject some play with color, varying silhouettes and necklines. One of Halston’s biggest signatures is the way their designs have that perfect blend of stylish minimalism that allows you to dress with polish while also having a little bit of fun.

Yellow in particular remains a standout favorite color for me in the autumn season and the Halston Fall collection features the most gorgeous oversized coat as well as a yellow crepe dress that is so classic you could wear it from now to the day you retire. Then there’s the floating blouses, a faux-wrap dress and sleek jumpsuits.

And of course, we can’t hold discussion on wear-to-work styles without in some way shape or form including a suit. In Halston’s fall collection, you’ll find a more relaxed approach to suiting with an effortlessly casual fit.

Pieces for the Office

In putting this post together, I went through the full Halston Fall Collection and hand picked individual pieces I think would work really well in the 9-to-5 space. The Halston collection of course does have a fair amount of party dresses and even evening gowns, but unless you have a much more glamorous job than me I don’t think you’ll be wearing those to work. (Then again, it could be fantastically extra of you to show up at the office in dressed in full-length gown. Entirely your choice!)

In the fourteen styles you’ll find below, there’s traditional black — but there’s also color. There’s even a little bit of playing prints. There’s also a lot of varying necklines.

What I particularly like about these pieces for the office is that they play off traditional work attire quite nicely, but with a fresh twist. Pleats, draped necklines, silk and ruffled details all add something new to these classic styles. These pieces are also rather understated, meaning you can go as wild as you want with your accessories and wear them in a number of different ways.
