Break out the sparklers, COUTURE WEEK is here! Let’s kick things off with a very Calamity Jane-inspired Dior Fall 2017 couture collection.
While others are decked out in their patriotic attire, setting off a marathon of fireworks in celebration of the Fourth of July – you’ll find me tucked behind my laptop. After all, it is COUTURE WEEK – a biannual occasion I absolutely live for. And, in a year when the American spirit is faltering a bit…it’s quite heavenly to immerse myself in fabulous dresses, celebrity spotting and Parisian dreams.
Happy Couture Week!
To kick off coverage at Dream in Lace, I thought we’d look over the Dior Fall 2017 Couture collection and have a gander at the guests in attendance. My Dior Husband #1 was there, after all, and I’ll never forego an opportunity to celebrate Robert Pattinson‘s knack for looking ultra cool and dapper at the same time. Also in attendance was my forever girl crush Lena Perminova, who I’d really like to have a ‘life swap’ with. I mean, her life is actual GOALS!
Dior Fall 2017 Couture on the Western Front
As for the fashions, the Dior Fall 2017 couture collection was very much reminiscent of what Maria Grazia Chiuri sent down the runway for Resort 2018. The Western aesthetic was front and center, albeit with more of a ‘Safari woman’ twist this time around.
In a nutshell, I’m going to call this the Calamity Jane collection. (Side Note: Doris Day was one of my ultimate favorites growing up and I pretty much wore out that VHS tape.)
Of course, as we know a couture collection features both day and eveningwear attire and for the evening – Maria has designed a series of stunning dresses that move ever so beautifully on the runway. I dare say, she is really finding her footing at Dior! Her first few collections I was a bit ‘meh’ on, but more and more she seems to be shaking off her Valentino past and fully embracing the world (and silhouettes) of Christian Dior. Bravo, Maria!!
I’m feeling very enthused about the future of Dior under Maria’s creative control. Things seem to be running very smoothly and I’m excited to watch her world of Dior continue to evolve over the coming seasons. In fashion, creative directors seem to play a steady game of musical chairs these days – but I’m hopeful she’s found a long-term home at Dior. From Galliano, to Raf, to Maria. Let’s see where things go!
Back to the Guests…
Now that we’ve sufficiently swooned over the Dior Fall 2017 couture collection, let’s revisit those in attendance.
Karlie Kloss sported a swank Resort 2018 Dior look and a striking new hair color: platinum blond to the max! While I so wish she was walking the show (no one does runway like Karlie), it’s still nice to see her popping up at events like these looking insanely beautiful.
Also in attendance was fashion blogger to mogul extraordinaire Chiara Ferragni, who always goes ALL-In for her couture week looks. Chiara recently got engaged and you just know her wedding gown is going to be one for the record books. Given her close relationship with Dior, I’m starting to wonder if Dior might just be the designer of choice?
Are You Ready for More Couture?
Needless to say, Couture Week is high on my radar at the moment and pretty much going to be taking over Dream in Lace this entire week. So get ready for a feast of haute couture creations to come your way!
From classic favorites Ralph and Russo and Schiaparelli to Yanina Couture and Georges Hobeika, I’m really excited for what the Fall 2017 couture season has in store and look forward to working overtime to share everything with you here on Dream in Lace.
If there’s a specific collection you’d like to see me cover, definitely lemme know. And be sure to follow me on Twitter, where I’m pretty much posting around the clock.
Thank you so much for reading and may this couture week be FULL of sartorial delights!
Stay stylish and keep chasing your dreams!
XOXO
Kelly
