On the hunt for a Better than Sex mascara dupe? Get ready because I’m bursting at the seams to spill the beans on this ULTIMATE dupe from the drugstore. Onward we go!
Sometimes, a makeup dupe falls out of the sky that has me literally jumping for joy!
As you may know, the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara is one of my favorites…and I’m not alone. The lil’ pink tube wonder delivers long, fluttering lashes to millions around the world.
(Okay, I can’t verify that millions are in love with the Better than Sex mascara. But, surely they would be if they tried it…so, that counts. Right? Right.)
At $25 a pop, it’s by no means the most PRICEY mascara on the market – but it definitely clocks in at at least double the amount of your average drugstore mascara. And so, when a new mascara hit the market that looked like it might possibly be a dupe, I was ON IT. That baby was bought and on its way to me from Ulta in a snap.
Well, here I am ready to report that yes…my suspicions were correct.
We have a dupe, people!
Meet the Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara Dupe
L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara = Too Faced Better than Sex
Ta da!
I WISH I could pair some dramatic, over-the-top sound effects with this unveiling – but I’ll just have to express my enthusiasm through my words.
As you can tell by the packaging, L’Oreal wasn’t exactly being discreet with their intentions on mirroring the Too Faced mascara. But, of course – we all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
Twin Wands
When you compare the two mascara wands side-by-side, the truth is clear.
L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise mascara is a near perfect Too Faced Better than Sex mascara dupe. The only difference is L’Oreal’s packaging is less bulky and the wand is ever so slightly shorter.
But overall, L’Oreal Wand v. Too Faced Wand? The same.
Okay, But What about the Formula?
Now, I know you can visually see the similarities between the two mascaras – but let me weigh in on the two formulas.
Both mascaras work in the entirely same way, with a somewhat wetter formula that extends lashes to their furthest potential. The beauty of Too Faced’s cult fav Better than Sex mascara is how the wand and formula work hand-in-hand to really coat your lashes and spread them outward. Hence, creating a more voluminous look.
A Side-by-Side Look
Naturally when comparing these two mascaras – I did what any serious makeup addict scientist would do. I wore the L’Oreal mascara on my right eye and the Too Faced mascara on the left, then compared. In the end? I couldn’t tell a difference. Both performed the same in how well they extended my lashes and wore throughout the day.
The only difference? The L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara rings up at $10.99 – a savings of $13 or 57%. Not bad!
Pros v. Cons
Now’s when my mind speculates if I’ll keep purchasing the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara dupe from L’Oreal over the real deal itself.
The L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara honestly works so similarly, it seems crazy to shove out an extra $14 for the same product. BUT, at the same time, we can all applaud Too Faced Cosmetics for their certified cruelty-free status – which L’Oreal cannot claim because of their position with China.
And it seems right to keep buying the original mascara over the copycat, right? But the copycat is also SO GOOD!
Decisions, decisions…
No matter which side you choose, it’s definitely clear that the Loreal Lash Paradise and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascaras are pretty much identical. Save yourself some pennies and purchase the drugstore version – or go for the splurge to pickup the original. The option is really up to you!
