Peter Copping’s absence is not slowing things down at Oscar de la Renta, whose studio team unveiled a gorgeous Spring/Summer 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week.
At Oscar de la Renta, it’s a post-Peter Copping and pre-Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Monse time. But, the absence of an acting creative director certainly did not hold back the studio team, who debuted a beautiful Spring/Summer 2017 collection in New York last week. The 44-look SS17 collection honored classic Oscarisms and felt upbeat for spring.
For Spring 2017, Oscar de la Renta’s team balanced crisp white lace for day, with flashy gowns for evening – both paired with an interesting choice of footwear: flats. This must have been a great relief to models whose feet were surely killing them during NYFW (I know mine were). Decadent sandals that looked like they walked straight off the safari and down the runway rounded out the looks, adding a casual and Boho vibe to the runway.
I was quite impressed with the full collection but narrowed down my favorites. Here are the 11 best looks from Oscar de la Renta’s “between-period” Spring/Summer 2017 collection!
Oscar de la Renta is obviously no stranger to beautiful evening-wear and this season, the team delivered glitz. From a metallic pleated gown with a plunging neckline, to a sporty black sequined gown with sparkling fringe, I was quite smitten.
Hats off to the Oscar de la Renta team for delivering a solid collection! A true highlight of the show was when they collectively took a bow, receiving nods from fashion elite everywhere. When all eyes were on Oscar de la Renta this season to see what they would do in the absence of a creative director, the team really did a stunning job at maintaining that signature ODLR elegance we all love.
No doubt, we’re all excited to see where Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia take Oscar de la Renta when they debut their first collection in February. The two designed with Oscar himself before branching off to see big success at Monse and I’m eager to see what is hanging up their sleeves!
