Michael Costello continues his reign on sex-appeal with a sparkling, botanical inspired Spring/Summer 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week. Prepare to swoon!
First, apologies for taking SO long to get this Michael Costello article up! I attended the show on Thursday at NYFW and here I am – Tuesday – finally getting to sit down and collect my thoughts about such a beautiful collection. Michael Costello was definitely one of the shows I was most looking forward to seeing this season and he did not disappoint with his botanical inspired Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
When the show opened with a steady stream of elegant purple gowns and romantic headdresses, my excitement jumped off the charts! As many may know – I’m a TAD bit obsessed with purple. It’s my color…and to see it featured so prominently filled my heart with glee.
Micheal Costello titled his Spring 2017 collection ‘Midnight in the Secret Garden‘ – and what a sparkling midnight it was! The collection was erupting with glitz, glamour and intrigue. Flowing chiffon gowns were topped with epic headdresses. Plunging lace necklines adorned vibrant red. Black was made to sparkle with slinky catsuits and full-skirted gowns.
Michael Costello’s SS17 collection was a true theatrical delight! Here are some of my favorite looks:
When this full-length column sequined gown came down the runway, the audience gave audible “oohs” and “ahhs”. Rightfully so! How amazing are those cutouts?
I was seated right near the top of the runway and kept catching a slight glimpse backstage of something sparkly and poofy coming our way. When the gown emerged, I was so excited. I love how edgy this is while also being quite lady-like. It’s a moody princess gown, if ever I did see one!
