A summer wardrobe must-have? The perfect floral printed dress.
You know you love a dress when you’re literally racing against the clock to get pictures taken as a summer storm rolls in. Seriously, I wish I had a video as I fought against hair flying in my face and wrangling my slip from showing as gusts of wind rustled the hemline of this beautiful floral dress from J.Crew Factory – or J.Crew Mercantile, as my store suddenly appears to be called? (Trust me, that threw me for a second.) Fortunately, the major downpour held off long enough to smile and twirl around for a few minutes to capture today’s summer style pictures!
Now, onto the dress.
I recently popped into J.Crew Factory on the hunt for a sundress to wear at an upcoming event. Turns out, I found more than one. Woops! But seriously, the sundresses at J.Crew and J.Crew Factory this summer are pretty rockin’ and are definitely worth checking out if you have a summer wedding or event coming up…or just are in the market for a pretty new dress, because when is that ever a bad thing?
What I really love about this J.Crew Factory dress, is how beautiful it is…while also being extremely comfortable. It’s instantly added to my list of things to turn to when I’m having an off day and just can’t for the life of me pull together an outfit. You know, those days where nothing looks good and you feel you’re charging through your closet like a torpedo trying to make something work. In other words, it’s like the safety net of cocktail dresses that’s guaranteed to look good, no matter what.
The colors blue, green and yellow work seamlessly together for a chill ‘perfect for every occasion’ summer dress. Be it a work luncheon, a baby shower, a summer wedding or just a night out…I think the we are going to get along swell in the months (and years, it’s that classic!) to come.
Let me also take a second to tell you about my necklace. It’s from an online store I discovered on Instagram called Brina Box. They create J.Crew-inspired pieces…at a portion of the cost. One cool thing about Brina Box is their ‘daily deal’…which they announce on Instagram. That’s how I picked this necklace up. After eyeing it for a little while on their site, it became a daily deal and shortly thereafter, mine.
One cautionary thing I will say about Brina Box, now that they’ve expanded their inventory to include more than just jewelry – items go out of stock quickly. So if you see something you like, I definitely recommend snatching it while you have the chance before it’s gone. Got to act fast!
As for my shoes, well…they were a Goodwill find of my mom’s. (Yes, never discount the power of Goodwill.) I was perched at my desk at work when a picture text came across my phone. To which, I immediately responded: get them! Imagine my further surprise when I learned they’re originally from Target. *shock* I’ve honestly never spent time in Target’s shoe department beyond maybe a poolside pair of flip flops, but these green flats have me reconsidering!
Now that I’ve sufficiently talked your ear off, it’s time to get packing for my family weekend away and start winding down for the night. I’ve got the Real Housewives of Orange County on, a cup of hot tea and am ready to enjoy my long four-day weekend!
Be sure to check back on Monday, when I’ll be sharing you my much-loved pasta salad recipe that’s supremely simple and delicious. Just in time for your next cookout or 4th of July barbecue.
