Take a peak inside my travel makeup bag to see the beauty bits I take on the road!
Recently, I conducted my first ‘election’ of sorts. Okay, that’s an extremely dramatic way of saying I hosted a poll on my Twitter but, whatever. It was my first time taking advantage of Twitter polls and I was proud! I took to Twitter asking readers what post they would most like to see centered around my four-day getaway. The winner? An updated glimpse inside my travel makeup bag.
It’s been about a year since I’ve discussed travel makeup here on Dream in Lace, so I am ready and willing to open up my makeup kit to share with you once again. At the heart of my four-day trip to Michigan was a baby shower, but there were also a couple lovely dinners out and a lot of running around to keep me busy in between. Usually when I travel, I like to bring just one foundation with me – but I simply couldn’t decide so opted for two. 1) My formal foundation 2) My everyday foundation that would be great for shopping around town or travel days.
While visiting my family, I took out my camera and got snap, snapping away at the beauty bits inside my travel makeup bag. Ready to take a look?
Marc Jacobs ‘Remarcable’ Foundation
I have a full review on this foundation (here), so I won’t rag on too much. – except to say that this is my new ‘holy grail’ event foundation. As in, if I have an occasion where I want to look lovely without having to stress about my foundation breaking up, wearing down or getting blotchy…it is to Marc Jacobs that I turn. The finish of this foundation is flawless and virtually doesn’t budge. Definitely rush to your local Sephora to pick up a sample so you can see what I mean. It’s a makeup dream come true!
Urban Decay Naked Skin One-and-Done Complexion Perfector
Okay, another product I have discussed before and have a full review on…(check that out, here). What can I say? I’m in love with this ‘does it all’ product by Urban Decay. On days when I wear this, I even skip moisturizer jumping right into my makeup. It serves as my moisturizer, my primer and my foundation…all in one. It also has surprisingly long-lasting coverage for a product of it’s breed. While ‘tinted moisturizers’ or ‘BB creams’ have their advantages, they are not known for their longevity. UD solves that problem creating a product that’s beautiful on the skin and holds up…even in heat!
Tarte Maracuja Concealer
I’ve been a longtime fan of Tarte and their Maracuja concealer. It’s thick, but creamy enough to be an everyday concealer. It lasts a long time and has never let me down when I have a blemish or dark circles going on. Basically, it’s your concealer BFF.
Estee Lauder BB Cream Highlighting Pen
I purchased a backup to this ages ago, but somehow the pen just keeps click-clicking away. I apply this under my eyes in a triangle shape and up my cheek bones…for a subtle bit of highlight. It’s not a step I take everyday, but for the baby shower I wanted to look ‘glowy’.
Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder
To assist on my mission to ‘glow’, Hourglass’s Strobe Ambient Light powder gives that perfect bit of illumination to the skin that leaves you looking kissed by heaven. Note, this is different than the traditional Ambient Lighting powders and has more of a ‘highlighter’ affect than those. So basically, don’t rub this all over your face. I put it in the center of my forehead and on my outer cheeks.
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Bronzer
Summertime means bronzer time, and there is no bronzer I reach for more than this from Estee Lauder. Perfect!
Tarte Blush Palette
Ahoy, another product I have a full review on (here). When I purchased this I just knew I wouldn’t need any other blush for a longtime and by golly I was right. This quartette of blush is perfect for every look.
MAC Soft & Gentle
I was feeling overly ambitious when I packed my makeup bag and thought I’d go SUPER glow-y with MAC’s cult favorite ‘Soft & Gentle’. But, as it turns out – the Hourglass powder was enough and I ended up not using this while I was away. Although, it is fabulous!
MAC Nordstrom Exclusive Eye Shadow Palette
When it came time to decide on an eyeshadow palette, I just simply couldn’t go without this one. I love a good palette and have several favorites, but this palette by MAC is perfect for travel because it has everything you would need. Neutrals, purples, grays, a matte black. Need I say more?
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Mascara
Talk about an oldie but a goodie. I’ve had this backup tube hanging out in my vanity since Christmas time and I finally opened it up – which sparked my love of this classic mascara all over again. Don’t know how it works, but the mascara has SUPER powers…as in, it triples the length of my eyelashes. Somehow.
Marc Jacobs Lipstick in ‘Have We Met?’
Marc Jacobs Beauty line is filled with gems and my latest favorite is this gel nude lipstick. I throw this on without a mirror when I’m in a rush. It’s the perfect wash of pink to help you look pulled together, in a flash.
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in Lipstick #55
I recently shared my love of this lipstick in my ‘Everyday Makeup Tutorial’ (see that, here) and the love continues. If you haven’t yet tried the improved ‘Volupte Shine’ formula that includes oil, you are in for a treat. YSL took an already perfect product, and made it even better. This lipstick feels like a silk cushion on your lips. It’s also quite attractive to pull out from your handbag.
Well…as you can see, I may have gone a tad overboard when it came to packing for just four days…FOUR days. But, then again, it’s better to have too many options than not enough…right? Please, let me know if you have any staples in your travel makeup bag. Do you gravitate more towards palettes too? What’s that one mascara you bring with? (Or, do you bring 5?) Spill!
Thank you so much for reading and I’ll be back on Friday with a *new* post!
As always, stay stylish and keep chasing your dreams!
XOXO
