Woo-hoo! With daylight saving time, comes springtime madness. Let’s throwback to one of my favorite Spring 2016 collections from New York Fashion Week: Lacoste…and their fashionable commitment to ultra-chic sportswear.
With the summer Olympics on the way, it seems only fitting to discuss Lacoste‘s Spring/Summer 2016 collection that embodies the Olympic spirit and looks forward to the Rio de Janeiro games…set to begin this August.
In truth, the Spring 2016 collection from Lacoste has been on my mind ever since it debuted at New York Fashion Week last September. That mere fact, that it’s still resonating with me six months later, speaks volumes for its greatness…don’t you think? In a world where our attention spans are shorter than ever and we’re immediately onto the next thing at all times, it’s rare for something to make an impact. Except, now is actually the perfect time to hunt back through my inbox to find these images and show notes because it’s a collection that’s relevant to what’s happening outside our windows at this very moment: springtime.
The fall fashion month is behind us and we can forget about dark lips, velvet and wool for a minute to relish the light and breezy looks of Lacoste’s sporty and cool SS16 collection. I don’t know about you, but it’s 70 degrees and sunny here today in the Midwest and I am certainly not complaining.
Spring 2016 at Lacoste is lightweight, comfortable and gloriously patriotic. It also happens to be extremely functional. Creative Director Felipe Oliveira Baptista is committed to modular clothing and created designs that are as useful as they are chic. From reversible jackets to a jumpsuit that unzips into a coat, it’s function and fashion all wrapped up in one.
It all happens to be pretty darn cool too.
Alexander Wang, watch out. Lacoste is still in the game when it comes to sporty clothes that just happen to be cool as hell. Lacoste brings an edge to active wear, taking gym clothes to urban street style approved pieces that are guaranteed to dress up your OOTD on Instagram. Millennials, rejoice!
