Be it army green or sultry red coats, militant was the definitive name of the game in Andrew Gn‘s Fall/Winter 2016 collection, as seen on the runways of Paris Fashion Week.
Now that I’ve thoroughly devoured the latest season of House of Cards, we can return to business as usual. First up? A review of Andrew Gn‘s stunning Fall/Winter 2016 collection, that elicited “oohs” and “ahhs” from me with each passing look down the runway.
Turns out, when a show opens with a killer army green peacoat – you’ve got my attention. From there, things were only on an up-sweep as models wove their way down the runway in sleek and regimental jackets, peplum dresses and tasseled sleeves. Drawing inspiration from Russia’s famous ‘Last Emperor’ Isar Nicholas II, Andrew Gn went BIG and bold for Fall 2016. He created a stunning regimental collection, that’s as aristocratic as it is rich with intrigue.
Andrew Gn kept the color palette to army green, red and black – with the occasional splash of brocade navy and purple in between. Dresses and jackets with regal silhouettes and stately details like heavy embroidery, fur necklines or ostrich feathered hemlines brought an all around royal effect to the runway.
I feel like I can safely say now that Andrew Gn is truly one of my continual favorites of fashion month. The man delivers season after season of beautifully inspired pieces that celebrate culture, color and the female spirit. After his cheerful and to die forSpring 2016 collection (here), it was a lot of fun to see Gn dart off in a completely different direction, that’s much more dark and complex.
After a month of Fall/Winter 2016 collections that often fell flat on the greatness scale, it was reviving to see Andrew Gn burst out of the gate with a collection that perfectly executed his strong vision. It feels like a great way to leave things on a high note and makes me extremely excited to see where he will take us next.
Thank you so much for reading and definitely check out Andrew Gn’s website here for more fashionable deliciousness!
