It’s Primary Election Day here in Ohio and I was feeling in the red, white and blue spirit! Here’s my OOTD for a trip to the polls, in the warm sunshine of spring!
Here in Cincinnati, Ohio, elections are kind of a big thing – especially when a nomination for president is on the line. Heck, they even made a movie about it – hello, Ryan Gosling anyone? – called the Ides of March. (Coincidence that is just happens to be the Ides of March as well? Cosmic!)
There were some important local issues on today’s ballot…and of course the infamous presidential debate, so I pulled myself together and hit the polls to perform my civic duty. Despite exhaustion from fighting probably the worst cold of my life, I rallied in some patriotic gear and voted. I hope you did too!
Truth is, it’s important that you vote.
I’m always astounded by the number of people I know who don’t. They simply give up their right to vote because they don’t see it for the privilege that it truly is. How silly, right? To have a right that others around the world are fighting for, only to let it go ignored.
As a generation, we have to show up more. That’s where change begins. Showing up! Going to the polls, casting our ballots and exercising that ever so important right to vote. Don’t know if you can fit going to the polls in with your busy work or school schedule? Voting absentee is a glorious option. In fact, I actually recommend that in major elections like the coming one in the fall. You can sit at home, Google the issues to your hearts content and vote away in yoga pants. Score!
