Greetings my beautiful lovelies! With Memorial Day in our rear view mirror, we can officially say it’s summer! And of course, that got me thinking about my summer 2014 must-haves and just how much more relaxed they are for summer than for any other season. I don’t know about you, but I live in a very humid summer climate. So full hair and makeup sort of go out the window in favor of the easy breezy. Some days I literally roll out of bed right to the pool, so the less upkeep, the better. Even on the days that me and my friends plan on playing Airsport games, I keep everything to a minimum, but obviously wear the essential equipment that I purchased through specialist companies such as OnlyBBGuns. You may not have thought it, but this is one reason I love the summer. I can go out and do a lot of the activities that I couldn’t do in the colder months.
Of course there are a lot of things that help us get through the seasons, but for summer it was quite easy to whittle it down to a top 10 list. In no particular order, here is my list of the ultimate top 10 summer essentials no girl should be without, ever!
A Pedicure (featuring Essie Enuf-is-Enuf)
No other season will give your toes as much showtime as the summer. Sandals and peep toes don’t leave much to the imagination and so a pedicure is a must. Whether you do it yourself or go to a salon, having color on your toes is another non-negotiable in the summer time. I definitely have a thing for red-coraly-pinks in the summer. I have a whole collection of them but this Essie polish is my current fav.
Self-Tanner (featuring Lancome Flash Bronzer)
A Good Pair of Sandals
One can never own too many sandals. I like them to be comfortable and to also strap my feet in. Flip-flops and me just no longer get along. That was so age 18-20. I find investing in a pair that’s comfortable is also essential. Flat sandals with no support from Target? No thank you!
A Lip Balm (Featuring Lancome Juicy Tubes)
I cannot live without lip balm any time of the year. But, after winter, summer is when I find myself reaching for lip balm the most. There’s something really drying about the sun on my lips.
MAC Morange Lipstick
MAC’s Morange lipstick was a staple for me last summer and is still so loved that I’ll be rocking it repeatedly this summer as well. There’s something so enlivening about it to my complexion. It also is flattering on any skin-tone, from pale to dark it’s an all around home run.
Summer Reading
Summer reading is such an important part of summer. I mean, we all need something to occupy ourselves while lounging by the pool. Right? I’ve already shared with you my #MissionRead for Summer 2014 (post here)…and I invite you to come along for the ride!
A Fedora (similar here)
I went back and forth between a Fedora and Floppy Hat as a summer essential. Both are absolute staples but I ultimately went with the Fedora as it could be used pool/beachside as well as out and about. Hats are the ultimate summer accessory because they protect your scalp and face from the sun, as well as allow you to go lax on the hair upkeep 😉
A Swimsuit (or two, or three, or four)
You can never have too many swimsuits. For two pieces, I like to pick up a more quality top like the above from Nautica and then mix and match with bottoms. (Target anyone?) I definitely spend much less time than I used to lounging around in a bathing suit during the summer, but it’s an important staple you should never be without!
Bonus – Bluetooth Speaker
Having some lovely music on in the garden is so relaxing while I’m reading. My Custom Bluetooth Speakers help me to really get into summer mode!
I feel like I’m in full celebratory mode that summer is finally here. Did anyone else have to live through arctic hell this winter? Heat and humidity has never excited me more! Let me know if there are any summer specific posts you’d like to see. Perhaps summer hair? Summer makeup? I also have lots of great summer recipes you might enjoy.
Also, what tops your list for summer must-haves?
