Bring on the pumpkin, fall has officially arrived. To celebrate the start of my favorite season I thought I’d start a new tradition and share my Fall Bucket List.
There’s no denying it when I step outdoors: Fall 2016 has arrived. The crisp sixty degree temperatures, falling leaves and overcast skies are signals of all things “fall” to come. As soon as I pulled on a pair of brown boots and leg warmers, that old autumn feeling started to seep in and I was suddenly thinking of all the wonderful things I look forward to this season. From cozy nights in with candles, to making hot apple crisp and enjoying the Halloween season with spooky movie marathons.
It does go without saying: fall is my favorite season of them all. The fashion. The football. The colors. The holidays. The joy of stepping outside without having to worry about my makeup melting straight off my face or freezing still in an ‘arctic blast’ of winter. Frankly, I think we can all agree….fall is pretty darn awesome.
To get us in the fall spirit, I have pulled together my fall bucket list, featuring some of the things I look forward to eating and doing in the months ahead!
My Fall Bucket List
Candles. Candles. And More Candles.
Candles are great throughout the year, but become especially exciting in the autumn months. In the coming days, I plan to make a tremendous candle haul to kick-off my fall bucket list. They’ll set the mood and provide cozy lighting at night as I sip on herbal tea and catch up on fall shows (hello, new season of American Horror Story and The Affair) while bundled beneath a heap of blankets.
A Breakout/Escape Room Experience
The idea of being locked in a room with a group of people and following clues to find my way out is a titillating idea to me. Perhaps that makes me borderline psychotic, but it seems like an all-around good time! In October, I have scheduled a chance to cross this exciting experience off my longtime bucket list and I literally cannot wait. Woo!
Listen to Harry Potter Audiobooks
On my recent trip out to New York City, I discovered a miraculous thing: audiobooks. Since, I simply cannot get enough of them and have listened to memoirs by Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Lina Dunham, Mindy Kaling, Kelly Cutrone and more. This summer, I vowed to reread the Harry Potter series through the fall and winter seasons and I’m amending that vow to say it will be with audiobooks! My commute to and from work everyday just got SO much better!!
Voting in the November 8th Election
Like all Americans should, I will be hitting the polls this season to make my vote for president, state representatives and important local issues. The act of voting is an item that falls on my bucket list twice a year, but this election is a big one. If you have not yet, get registered to vote, here! A fall bucket list MUST.
Making New Vegan Soups
Soup is a favorite every year, but in 2016 I swapped from vegetarian to vegan…giving me a list of even more exciting recipes to try! All summer long, I’ve been pin-pinning away recipes for when the weather turns and I look forward to many Sunday afternoons with a boiling pot of soup on the stove. Can’t wait to try this Vegan French Onion Soup, this Vegan Tortilla Soup or this Mediterranean Spicy Vegan Lentil Soup. (Side Note: I’m prone to “Snapping” while I cook, so follow me at ‘DreaminLace.)
See the Phantom of the Opera – Again.
Without question, the Phantom of the Opera has been a musical influence in my life. From blasting the audio cassette — yes, in the “tape days” — as a child, to learning just about every song there was to learn in my vocal lessons and attending the musical itself a few times…I still routinely listen to this MP3 album and rewatch the film. For me, it’s a musical that feels like home and it’s once again coming to town this November, meaning I will once again be watching it come to life before my eyes. November seems like the perfect time for this darker story, doesn’t it? Can’t wait!
Get Back into a Walking Routine
I don’t know about you, but this summer was a scorcher with insane humidity in the Midwest and truly hindered my regular walking routine. Now that the weather has turned, I look forward to returning to my long walks in the park and venturing out more to the local Nature Center and nature preserves nearby. Since winter can be so frigid and miserable, I want to savor every moment of this perfect walking weather as I can! (P.S. Lady Gaga has a new album out next month, which is sure to played on repeat.)
Update and Redesign this Dream in Lace Web Space
A bucket list item that has been pushed to the back-burner for multiple seasons now is working on improving the Dream in Lace website. It’s been a while since I’ve done a layout change around here and there are some things about this current layout that I’ve really outgrown and want to update. So, this fall…I’m going to be getting to work on a new design that will have improved functionality and be an all-around LEAP in a better direction! If you have suggestions for things you’d like to see, please send them my way.
What are you looking forward to this fall? Share your “fall bucket list” items, below!
As always, stay stylish and keep chasing your dreams!
XOXO
Kelly
