Last week , the fashion elite took over the runways in Paris to present the latest and greatest in haute couture! The Spring 2015 couture runways showed an eclectic mix of bold and traditional looks, to satisfy the hunger of fashion lovers everywhere, self included.
These hand crafted, one-of-a-kind pieces are the premium in design, coming at quite the price. But, they’re also the precursor to the ready-to-wear collections due out next month, and will spill into designs of your local clothing store in no time. From Karl Lagerfeld’s crop tops and blinged-out beanies at Chanel, to Armani Prive‘s sweltering looks of regal elegance – the landscape of haute couture has never been more grand!
To catch you up on everything you missed, or maybe to help you relive the magic, I’ve put together an assortment of the signature looks from the runways that will make their way into the editorial pages of Vogue and the red carpets of the Academy Awards and Cannes Film Festival in no time. Half the fun of couture, for those of us who will never be able to afford it, is watching where the gorgeous atelier fashion ends up after its debut!
Let’s review!
This season, Raf Simons served a David Bowie inspired collection Dior, with psychadelic jumpsuits and platform boots. Giambattista Valli continued their love affair with florals – adding gorgeous veils and a darker palette to the scene. Continuing their reign in couture, Jean Paul Gaultier and Alexandre Vauthier both chose moody and supremely sexy silhouettes, resurrecting the Studio 54 hay-days.
Then there’s Dice Kayek, a surprise favorite, with embellished mini-skirts and inflated silhouettes. It was a collection so beautiful it rivaled the couture heavy weights in style. The definitive statements from the runway? Shape and color. Be it sleek and bold, or large and demure – from Versace to Georges Hobeika! Here are the must-see looks from this season’s runways!
