The Worst Dressed list from the 2015 Oscars red carpet were really trying their best.
Last night Hollywood hosted the 2015 Academy Awards, and it was a long night filled with fashion.
As a whole, I’d say the 2015 award season red carpets were a bit of a downturn from last year’s greatness, but all in all…not…bad… (totally having a Bridget Jones launch party moment. HELLO! The microphone’s not working!) But last night was the Oscars and of course I was ferociously devouring the red carpet fashion and having loads of fun sipping on my champagne while live-tweeting the madness with you guys. Wouldn’t you agree, social media has made awards shows a thousand times better? It brings everyone together. *sappy moment*
Anyway, holiday’s brightest stars strutted down the Oscars’ red carpet looking mostly mighty fine. And while I did do a Best Dressed List (here), we’re not worrying about the people who looked good right now. Glimpsing back, I was SHOCKED to discover I did not do a Worst Dressed list at last year’s Oscars (how very conservative and boring of me), but I’m not going to be that nice today. Instead, let’s take hands and divulge our picks for WORST of the night…because honestly, there were some worst.
Of course, argue with me if you may…or share your thoughts on who looked manically wacky! This is about fun people, let’s have fun!
Chloe Grace Moretz in Miu Miu
I give up trying to make sense of Chloe’s styling. It’s pretty all over the place and while I do very much love True Blood — dressing in Sookie Waterhouse’s wallpaper for the Academy Awards might not be the best move.
Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen
What a disappointment this was! After a brilliant award season, Felicity Jones somehow found herself in this Alexander McQueen ballgown with a SERIOUS identity crisis. The gown seems to take on many looks, failing to conquer any of them. It’s okay, Felicity. We still love you!
Katie Cassidy
I do not watch Arrow, but I DID watch Katie’s season of Supernatural and her run on Gossip Girl. I really enjoy her range and what she brings to the table as an actress and seriously wish she wasn’t wearing a fishnet.
Jennifer Aniston in Atelier Versace
I really was hoping for more from Jennifer on the 2015 Oscars red carpet. But instead we got a rather mute gown that has taken a turn through the mud judging by the base of it.
Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab Couture
If there’s one thing we can all say about JLO – it’s that she is very diligent about her attendance at the Oscars! She’s also very committed to going BIG with her looks and while this is far better than others, it just felt pretty bland.
Keira Knightley in Maison Valentino Couture
Well, I got my wish of Keira Knightley in Maison Valentino Spring 2015 couture — but unfortunately she went the frilly route.
Lorelei Linklater in Gabriela Cadena
Lorelai Linklater of Boyhood decided to wear a newer designer at last night’s Academy Awards. It was a very kind gesture on her part…and a shame that the designer didn’t have anything better for the occasion.
Nicole Kidman in Louis Vuitton
WHAT is going on with the hem at the base of this gown? Did she get entangled in a paper shredder? We’ll probably never know.
Patricia Arquette in Rosetta Getty
Patricia Arquette gave a lovely speech calling for wage equality for women last night, so I’m not going to say anything bad about this. I love you Patricia, I always have…I just wish your stylist loved you as much as I do!
Solange in Christian Siriano
This is all a bit too much.
— CLOSING REMARKS —
Did you watch the awards last night? Let me know what your favorite moments (fashion or not) of the evening.
We’ve officially wrapped up another award season here at Dream in Lace and I’m going to miss live-tweeting the red carpets with you guys! But, like I said…I did also do a Best Dressed List (here) to discuss those ladies who showed up looking FLAWLESS! So, if you’re still feeling in the judging mood…may I direct you over there!
Have a great week everyone!
