Guys, screw Cinderella! Valentino put on their own live-action fairy tale this with week a Spring 2015 Haute Couture collection that felt like the fairy tale romance of my dreams. Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri brought their own Jane Austen meets Grimm Brothers saga to life through corsets, rich textures, stunning embroidery and of course that whole whimsical sense of magic we’ve come to expect from a Valentino collection.
MUCH to my relief, the peasant dresses that plagued Valentino collections for the past several seasons were replaced with that traditional silhouette you’d expect to find on Sleeping Beauty, or, you know, the heroine of an Austen novel.
I find myself wondering, just why does this ethereal collection resonate so strongly? It’s 2015. Instead of Elizabeth Bennett, modern power woman roam the earth. The menswear trend has never been as strong and crisp, sharp silhouettes rock runways from Versace to the futuristic world of Alexander Wang. In such a modern time, why does a fairy tale throwback carry such weight?
Valentino’s Spring 2015 Couture is rich with imagination, and speaks to the modern woman. Today, we want to have to have it all – including a flirtation with that age-old fantasy of being a princess. At the end of a long day at the office, we can slip on a chiffon gown and be the heroine of our own fairy tale. That’s the beauty of fashion, you really can have it all.

I absolutely love it and couldn’t have described it more perfectly. I am really loving long, floaty gowns at the moment and sheer fabrics, I kind of feel like it’s more acceptable to be extravagant at home too and not just get into my sweatpants! xxx
