Pretty Little LiArs is back for the summer. And thank god! Because it just wouldn’t feel like summer without Aria, Hanna, Emily, Spencer and the gang. After the success of the Mad Men fashion recaps on Dream in Lace, I’ve decided to keep the fashion-recapping train a movement with PLL. The styling on this show is so interesting to watch. This week’s premiere was one big whopper of a premiere! There was more plot development in this season 5 premiere than I think all of season 4 combined. And now that she show is moving along at a quicker pace, I’m excited to see where it goes.
But let’s talk fashion! This week’s premiere all took place on one night, so there weren’t any outfit changes to get excited about. In general, I’d say things were all about the jacket this week.

| Boom. Boom. Boom! Emily and Spencer both go for a leather jacket while Hanna, on the other hand, looks like a carpet bag with sleeves. |

| I’m always happy when Emily goes a little bit dark, instead of all-American girl next door. With a flannel around the waist, black jeans and boots…she looks much stronger. And I think her fashion closely relates to her confidence because she is significantly more ‘with it’ when dressed with some flare. |

| I think we all know by now that Melissa is one shady b&$@! and never to be trusted. But I really like this combination of animal print with the standard preppy blazer. |

| If there was an award for most discombobulating dresser, Aria would win hands down every time. Here we note that she’s wearing a white tiger tank with perhaps the most confused scarf ever. It is multi-colored mixed with animal print. And if you look closesly you see this has odd and end little ties/knots all around. Say what? |

| And of course, in its full glory the outfit is even more out there. Throw on a quilted, wool hooded leather jacket. A long, low-high skirt, some zebra print leggings and Ugg boots and we’ve got Aria Montgomery 101. |

| Mona was also in this episode, which is always cause for celebration. Here we see her in an understated and kind of boring mock-neck tank. |

| She does raise the stakes though with a leather jacket, complete with lots of pockets (a girl needs pockets!), to rally the troops. Obviously an army general couldn’t work without a Queen B jacket of her own! |

| There was one flashback scene in this episode of Ali. It always amazes me how Ali was supposed to be this ‘it-girl’ and yet dressed so completely ‘meh’. Her ensembles are all around forgettable. Then again, we have all seen that yellow tank she ‘died’ in so many times I reckon we’ll never forget it. (Which is a shame.) |
Whose look were you loving most in this week’s episode? There is definitely one fashion moment that I left out, to spare anyone from spoilers…but the infamous A hoodie was everywhere this week and we finally got to see the person behind the hood! Yes, we finally know who the new A is! *hooray*
Honestly, I think I have to hand it to Emily this week. Her hair always looks great, but this week her outfit caught up to also being great. Kudos Em!
