Sorry to delay this week’s Mad Men Fashion Recap, but my Woman Crush Wednesday post on Emma Roberts could not be delayed. It was definitely a progressive episode this week, however. With several character defining things happening…and another pregnant hippie on the loose. Apparently, at least according to Matthew Weiner, the 1960s was filled with pregnant hippie women roaming around without shampoo. Luckily this week’s pregnant hippie found Megan who is obviously well-stocked with shampoo, soap and all other cleanliness essentials.
Sunday’s episode was entitled The Runaways…and had a couple series favorites for me! A) my favorite Betty scene of all time and B) my favorite Peggy ensemble of all time. We also got to see Don swing back into his full glory. Disheveled Don is gone and in his place stands a suave man with his confidence restored…thank god.
But, as I try to keep things as spoiler free as possible I’ll just get to the fashion!
There was no Joan this week, so we had to make do with Megan. The good thing about Megan is she’s the type on the cutting edge of fashion – and obviously in high party mode. Her coifed hair and short hemline might have been the standout look of the episode if it wasn’t for Peggy swooping in at the last moment to steal the show. I’ve thought for a while that Peggy looks best in the royal blue. This week’s gold chain and peplum detailing stepped it up a few notches though. If I were the costume designer, I’d put Peggy in absolutely nothing but!
What was your favorite look from this week’s Mad Men?
