The Game-Changing Toner that Transformed My Skin

Meet the OleHenriksen toner that changed my ENTIRE skincare routine after just one use. That’s right, this toner is a game-changer.

To start off, I want to immediately say I was sent this OleHenriksen toner complimentary before it launched in December 2018. When it arrived, I thought it would be refreshing…but by no means had any expectation of falling in love with it. Then I tried it out for the first time and was racing to grab my phone to tell everyone about it on Instagram.

A moment later, I read the note in the box that said to hold off mentioning it till a certain date. Oopsies. Begrudgingly I deleted my Instagram post and instead scheduled a tweet to go out first thing on its launch date…because I was stoked.

Just what was it about the OleHenriksen toner that had me basically losing my marbles? The way it felt.

Massaging it into my skin with a cotton pad, I instantly knew this was a game changer. It’s the first toner I’ve EVER used that I could feel DOING something. For years I’ve used toners every day just because I thought it was the “right” thing to do, but until discovering this product always felt robbed by them. Like a complete sucker, I dished out cash and massaged them into my skin for ages without ever once feeling they served an actual purpose. What a knob-head thing to do, right?

Well, turns out I just hadn’t found the right toner for me. Now that I have, I’m absolutely a believer!

Right, so I frickin’ love the idea of the OLEHENRIKSEN toner shooting to ‘atone’ for your skin sins. As someone who works in marketing, I love that play on words. And who doesn’t love a good play on words?

While I’m proud to say I take pretty darn good care of my skin these days, I certainly can’t say that was always the case. In fact, and I cringe at admitting this, I used to use tanning beds. Why I thought laying in a human microwave for 15 minutes was a good plan I’ll never know…but younger me was a straight up fool. (She was.)

A Proper Dose of AHAs

Baking myself in light bulbs is definitely the biggest skincare sin I’ve made in my day. Then there are the standard remnants of sun burns in my early age and a lack of commitment to sunscreen in general. Nowadays, I’ve embraced my status as an albino and avoid the sun as much as I can. I also feel lucky to have the OleHenriksen toner on hand to help rectify the situation with a healthy daily dose of AHAs (through glycolic and lactic acid).

If you’re asking yourself just what “AHAs” are and why you need them, here’s a quick rundown of some things they do. (There are also countless articles out there to be read. I spent one night reading all about AHAs and it was fascinating.)

Benefits of AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids)

  • Dissolve away your dead skin layer, leaving behind fresh new skin cells on the surface. A great and gentle way to exfoliate.
  • Hold moisture in your skin
  • Thicken your outer layer of skin while increasing collagen production for a firmer/plumper complexion
  • Help repair photo-damaged skin and protect from UV damage

If you find yourself hunting around trying to develop a great anti-aging skincare routine, regular nighttime use of AHAs is bound to come at the top of the list of most widely-recommended things to do. Usually, though, you see those come in down the line through serums and moisturizers. It’s pretty awesome to discover that OleHenriksen gets straight to the point by delivering them as the first step on freshly cleansed skin.

Immediate Result

After just one use the OleHenriksen toner, I woke up in the morning with my skin feeling smoother than ever before. It was such an alarming and thrilling difference, I immediately told my mom about it. We’ve both been researching more and more about skincare and I just had to share my new (and at that time unreleased) discovery.

Clearly using AHAs as the first step after cleansing was a game-changing move because I can’t stress enough the dramatic difference I felt so quickly. It was almost like I emerged with a whole new face…and I’m not even joking when I say that.

Results After One Week

After one week of using OleHenriksen’s GLOW2OH toner in my nighttime skincare routine, I could tell this new “smooth” complexion was here to stay. Usually I’ll use a product that delivers an initial smoothness that will completely where off within a few hours. But this lingered.

Makeup started applying better, my skin looked more awake and I battled no issues with dryness.

After Three Weeks

It’s been 3.5 weeks since I first used the OleHenriksen toner and I’ve officially adopted it as an everyday skincare essential! I shared its brilliance with my mom, gifting her a bottle for Christmas, and am thrilled to share about it here on Dream in Lace as well.

Every single night, I use this toner after cleansing and there’s no denying the difference I feel and see in my skin. After spending years of my life using toners that felt like a complete waste of time and money, I’ve finally stumbled on one that’s a winner. So much so, I do call this a game-changer because its completely revolutionized my nighttime skincare routine. Almost like a primer, the GLOW2OH toner lays a great foundation for every skincare product I apply after. Not only on its own does it give my skin a boost, but just through the nature of how it works it helps boost the benefit of my serum, retinol oil and moisturizers also.

Final Thoughts

I have to say, I feel a bit like a cult member raving on this much about how much I love OleHenriksen’s newest toner…but I truly do! And if this is a cult, fine. Take me to Jonestown because I’m clearly drunk on the koolaid.

When you research and test makeup and skincare products all the time, it’s kind of rare for one to stop you in your tracks and completely shake up your routine. At $28 a bottle, the toner comes in at a middle-of-the-road fair price and is well worth every dollar. I sprinkle a couple of dashes onto a cotton pad every night and that is plenty to get the job done. My guess? You can easily get three months out of one bottle with everyday use. (I’ll update you when I finish this first bottle, though, so I can say for sure.)

If you’re at all like I was and think toners are a complete waste of money, I really welcome you to give this a try. I think you’ll be as blown away as I by just how effective this really is! As it turns out, toners apparently aren’t just a marketing scheme for the skincare industry to milk every dime they can from the wrinkle-fearing consumer. Who knew?!

On that note, I’m going to stop raving like a fan girl about how much I love this Olehenriksen toner and head out. I THINK I covered just about everything, but if you do think of a question I missed…drop that in the comments and I’ll get back to you asap. Thank you so much for reading!!
