I have to say, while the sunflower gets a lot of attention in the summer – I think black-eyed Susans deserve more appreciation.
For whatever reason, they’re one of the first things that come to mind when I think of summer and so it couldn’t be more fitting to celebrate Labor Day (aka, the “end of summer”) by showing them a little love. When I took these pictures I wanted them to capture the “summer vibes” I’ve been feeling in my heart and they work so perfectly, don’t they? Here’s to Black-eyed Susans!
Saying Goodbye to Summer
As we enter Labor Day weekend, I of course find myself AMAZED at just how quickly the summer months have flown by. Then again, given that it’s been scorching hot well into October here in Cincinnati – I don’t think I’ll have to be hanging up my summer clothes and swimsuits any time soon.
Nonetheless, it’s still sad to approach Labor Day and feel like we’re saying “goodbye” to summer. All the schools are now back in session and those long days of sunshine are getting shorter and shorter. When it gets dark later, it’s so nice to feel like you’re able to actually enjoy the sunshine after putting in a day of work.
This summer, I’ve loved getting off work, hitting the gym and still having time to take a dip in the pool. It’s so nice to be able to enjoy a nice balance between productivity and relaxation.
Don’t you wish we could enjoy the slower, more relaxed pace of summer the rest of the year?
That would be the dream! But, instead, we’re entering ‘back to reality’ mode and the fast-paced bustle of everyday life will continue once again. *womp womp*
