Meet the new priming Wander Beauty GLOW SPF 40. Does it work well under your makeup?

Shameful Confession Time: I used to visit tanning beds and it took a shamefully long time before I incorporated sunscreen into my daily skin.
I also vividly remember the pure annoyance I felt as a child, anxiously wanting to race into the pool, Lake Michigan or the Gulf of Mexico but being held up by my mom. She slathered layers of Coppertone on my skin with love but it felt like a “time out” to me and oh was I glad when it was over.
Here’s a big thank you to my mom and all the other moms, babysitters, and family who made us wear sunscreen. Our skin owes you for it! And now as adults we have the responsibility to carry the torch forward.
On that front we fortunately have a growing number of options that make wearing sunscreen both easy and beneficial. The latest addition? The new Wander Beauty Pack Up & Glow Priming Mineral SPF 40. And as a self-appointed super fan of multi-functional products there was no way I was going to pass this one up.
Sun protection, a primer and illuminator in one? Love that for me! Keep reading below to find out how we got along…
Priming Wander Beauty Glow SPF 40
A thing I’ve always loved about Wander Beauty in general is their commitment to clean and cruelty-free products. The Pack Up & Glow SPF 40 is no exception which is a relief as we’ve all experienced the displeasure of sunscreens loaded with a bunch of chemicals that irritate the skin and our senses (oh the smell)!
- ZINC OXIDE: Blocks UVA and UVB rays to protect from skin cancer; controls oil and improves healing of the skin
- TITANIUM DIOXIDE: Blocks ultraviolet light to protect from sun-damage and photoaging (hello blue light!)
- VITAMIN D: Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
- PLANT-DERIVED SQUALANE: Nourishes and reduces appearance of fine lines; hydrates and softens skin texture and can help fade dark spots
HOW TO APPLY:
Every morning, I’ve been massaging the Wander Beauty Glow SPF 40 into my skin after using my favorite gentle toning mist from Aveda followed by a gel moisturizer. Then, I give a few minutes for everything to settle in before moving onto my foundation and other makeup for the day. For touch ups, I dab and apply gently around my face over makeup.
How Does The SPF Wear Under Makeup?
My number one pet peeve with SPF for the face is if it makes my makeup slide all over the place! Fortunately, though, the Wander Beauty Pack & Glow SPF has a very light and smooth consistency that blends nicely and sets without any greasiness. Experimenting, I’ve been testing it out under multiple foundations and BB creams – finding no negative interaction. Thank goodness!
How Long Does It Last?
Having spent the bulk of my time in the glaring sun over the last couple weeks with high heat and humidity, you could say I have really put the Wander Beauty Glow SPF 40 to the test! What I’ve found is that I’ll start feeling the sun permeate through that protective layer it provides at the 3-hour mark. So you will need to reapply the standard every 2-3 hours to ensure you’re fully protected while basking in the sun.
Does It Mess Up Your Makeup When Reapplied?
Remarkably it does not! The light texture absorbs and sits well over whatever foundation, blush and bronzer I have on the day. The product also really works as an illuminator, creating a refreshed look to the skin that’s quite lovely.
The 1.7 ounce package is $36. This is definitely a much better value than the 1 ounce for $31 SPF I’ve previously been using from Clinique.

Overall Grade? A
I’ve been super impressed by a number of Wander Beauty products and they did not let us down with the Pack & Glow SPF 40! It’s fantastic to have a product that works well as a sunscreen but also a primer for your makeup. Its lightweight formula absorbs and wears beautifully on the skin without any icky greasiness.
Sitting here I’ve been trying to think if there are any cons to the product, but I honestly don’t see any. It’s an excellent addition to my daily skincare routine and is well worth trying to keep your skin protected! x
