Tailoring. It can truly make and break a look. And when on the stage of Paris Fashion Week, we as fashion consumers can expect a perfect fit. Right?

I don’t know! Anthony Vaccarello has this thing about super short asymmetrical hemlines. And when it works, IT WORKS! Everything is so razor sharp on point that you feel like you’re getting paper cuts just looking at it. Yet, somehow for the Spring 2015 Collection shown at Paris Fashion Week Tuesday, things came off a bit unkempt. And NOT in the shaggy, grungy unkempt appearance. No, this time we’re talking about a ‘Wow my clothes go all weird and out of place when I walk’ type of thing. You know those skirts that shift around and around with each step? As girls, we’ve all been there.
Let’s be real: worrying about your clothes twisting and shifting out of place while you merely walk is a serious pain in the butt. And I know I know, ‘Fashion over function‘ right? No.
I hereby declare a right to clothes that fit and stay in place. And if Anthony Vaccarello takes issue with this, he can answer to us women everywhere! We have the right to live our lives in clothes. That’s in fact what fashion is about. Art you live your LIFE in. Not art that restricts your life, right? I mean for real.
Plunging and necklines and ridiculously short hemlines are clearly clothes designed by a man and not a woman. We all get that. But please Anthony Vaccarello, put some more time into thinking about a woman is going to move in these clothes. Think about the way the fabric will lay on her body and move as she walks across the room. Think of a way for her to walk a block without flashing the entire street. Please!
On that note, I don’t want you to think I hated this collection because I didn’t. When the clothes work properly they are nice, albeit a bit tiresome considering they repeat the same lines we’ve come to know. You know what will be REALLY fun? When Anthony Vaccarello decides to ditch the asymmetrical/triangular hemline all together.
