If clothes could be a moody, sarcastic teenager – they’d be Lanvin‘s Spring 2015 Collection. True to form, Lanvin’s runway was back-lit and eery, setting the tone for a dark grungy collection perfectly. Leather, lace, tulle and pearl. A recipe for elegance, right? Not quite so. Yes, there’s lace, but it’s ratty instead of delicate. Yes, there are pearls, but they’re worn with metal for edge. Each element of this collection comes loaded with attitude and eye-rolling, sure to fit the inner grunge Goddess in all of us! I can hear the Nirvana playing from here!
Ever since Saint Laurent’s but the grunge back in fashion, we’ve been seeing it springing up everywhere. Lanvin’s graphic prints and tulle skirts are just the latest additions to the pot. I think what makes this collection most fun, is how it spins a fancy Chanel-esque look into something vintage and worn down. It’s like like the high fashion equivalent to ratty jeans.
Lanvin is kind of known for their accessories. For Spring 2015, they present wide leather belts and and metal pieces of jewelry. We even see the occasional arm band . Shoes are a bit of a low point for me. And, when I say they’re flat – I don’t mean in the type of sole. (Though, yes – they are indeed flat as well.) The low-healed booties are great and I WISH they had a bigger presence on the runway.
