Yes, I know. I might as well be talking about florals in the springtime but I just can’t help it. Be it sweaters, jackets, skirts or dresses – the quintessential plaid prints that spring up at this time of year always seem to grab my attention. What can I say? I love plaid and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
I Like Plaid, Miranda. Deal with it!
Cliches aside, I wanted to put together this post on plaid styles for fall because of how especially over the moon I am for the season to arrive this year. Oh sure, it definitely doesn’t feel like fall at 92 degrees but the season has well and truly officially arrived.
I’ve already been eating apples, decorating and queuing up my favorite scary movies for the countdown to Halloween. And, of course, I’ve also done a fair amount of shopping — which is where today’s post comes in.
A Plaid Shirt Dress in Ninety Degrees
Given my love of plaid styles for fall, as soon as I spotted this plaid shirt dress on NY and Company’s website I had to have it.
For one, I always appreciate the way a shirt dress can be dressed both up and down. But, I also really liked how suitable this dress was for warmer temperatures. It’s lightweight and breezy, making it perfect for the hot days we keep having but it’s toned perfectly for the fall season. The print is also classic enough that I’ll be able to get use out of it for years to come.
Once the weather turns cool, I can switch the styling up to add in tights and a jacked. I also picked up this poncho that matches perfectly for a layered look!
In addition to plaid styles for fall, I’m also really in love with daintier pieces of costume jewelry this year. I just can’t seem to muster up the excitement I once did for statement pieces anymore. In this post’s outfit, I’m wearing a safety pin necklace that’s also from NY & Company. I really like the way it adds a touch of sparkle to the look, without taking over altogether.
