Hello, there! Welcome to September – the month where we are all READY for fall, long before the weather catches up. I know, I know. I’m eager to bust out the boots, tights and heavy sweaters too. The problem? It’s currently 90 degrees outside and I’d really prefer NOT to get heat exhaustion.
Transitional Fall Styles
To satisfy our fall cravings while the weather is still very much in summer mode, I thought I’d pull together a collection of transitional fall styles you can start rocking as you go about your workday and gallivant across town on the weekends. Mother Nature will likely be holding out on us with the true fall weather for several weeks to come, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a head start and inject “fall” into your everyday look anywhere and everywhere you can.
In this post, you’ll find me rocking one of my new favorite ways to incorporate “fall” in my outfit: a paisley print. When I picked this dress up on mega-sale from JCPenny I knew it was different than anything else in my closet. In fact, it’s the first TRUE paisley print I even own and boy did it receive a lot of compliments.
As something totally different from anything I’ve worn before, it was a lot of fun putting this dress on for the office and pairing it with a lightweight jacket to finish off the look. Oh sure, you can wear a paisley print any time of the year but in my mind there’s something inherently autumnal about it. Don’t you think?
Another one of my favorite transitional fall styles is to top off a sundress or blouse with a lightweight jacket or vest. It’s obviously too warm right now to break into your heavier wool coats, but bomber, trench and denim jackets are all perfect staples for these early days of fall. I WISH I could give you a link to the jacket I’m wearing. It came from MEIJER of all places and is by the brand Ophelia Roe. If you have a Meijer near you, I’d run and pick one of these up because it’s so versatile and classic.
On a beauty note, it’s also NEVER too early to start breaking out your fall lipsticks. The one I’m wearing in these photos is Love Liberty by Charlotte Tilbury. Her Matte Revolution lipsticks are surprisingly creamy and also last a good long while. But you can of course experiment with all sorts of berry-toned lipsticks and lip glosses.
To inspire you onward in putting your outfits together during this in-between time we find ourselves, I’ve hand selected transitional fall styles for you that I think you’re going to love.
