Stuart Vevers’s funky and fresh COACH Spring 2022 collection taps into a new generation while pulling archival styles into the 21st century.

Being at a place where I think we’ve all just about had it with winter, there couldn’t be a better time for the COACH Spring 2022 collection to start arriving online.

Yes. We’ve definitely seen a lifetime and two variants come and go since the collection initially debuted in New York last September. But even with all that has happened since Fall 2021, it’s a collection that’s been on my mind a lot. Its spirit of funkiness sits perfectly amongst this feeling I think we’re all living with where we’re just ready to have FUN again!

The last two years have been extremely tough with a lot of serious challenges still among us, but aren’t you longing to kick back a little? Have an adult beverage, go to a concert at the park, make in-person plans and share in-person laughs with your inner circle? That is all music to my ears and I’m sure you can relate. There’s a hunger to live again we all long to satiate.

Another reason the COACH Spring 2022 collection on my mind? Because I’m fascinated by where creative director Stuart Vevers is going to engage a new generation of consumers. He’s doing a bang up job navigating the 80-year heritage while injecting a playful spirit he no doubt picked up working alongside the fabulously eccentric Marc Jacobs. For a Brit, Vevers is also proudly embracing NYC living and sprinkling institutions like the Big Apple’s museums and even the subway system throughout his work.

Like he previously did at LOEWE – Vevers is kicking things up several notches and successfully reinventing a brand that many moaned was becoming stale.

The elevated streetwear approach to design coupled with buzz-worthy COACH ad campaigns that feature the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, the HAIM sisters, Michael B. Jordan and the always glamorous Jennifer Lopez (just to name a few) is paying off in leaps and bounds!

As for the COACH Spring 2022 collection specifically, Stuart Vevers pulled archival styles from the 1970s into the 21st century with an eclectic mix of color, print and denim! Skinny jeans are officially dead with a wide-leg skater cut back in style. Vevers also rejects the micro-mini length trend Miu Miu is spear-heading, instead offering shorts with long 10-inch inseams and a denim skirt that sits even longer at 24 inches.

Of course the standout theme of the COACH Spring 2022 collection is a lighthearted l’oeil trick of the eye. Belts, buttons and collars are printed onto bags, cardigans and graphic tees but are not actually there. It’s a fun detail that puts a fresh spin on the classics and sets this collection’s handbags especially apart from the last few seasons.
