Formulated with hyaluronic acid and mandelic acid, the Lancome Care and Glow foundation packs skincare into your daily makeup. Does it live up to its predecessors?

I love a new foundation – particularly when it comes from Lancome.
They have a long history of excellence on the foundation front.
The Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation is a beloved classic that never fails. It’s a trustworthy friend I have in my makeup collection at all times and can rely on for consistent coverage that breathes and lasts all day without fail. There’s also the Teint Idole Renergie Lift foundation that, while not ideal for the summer months, offers anti-aging benefits as well as the hydration my skin longs for in the fall, winter and spring.
If you asked me whether I thought Lancome was in need of a new foundation — I would’ve told you no because they’re already doing very well on that front. Nonetheless, there was simply no ignoring the Care and Glow foundation when it first sprung up on my Instagram feed with Zendaya joined by her personal stylish and makeup artist in the ad campaign.
I snatched the Lancome Care and Glow foundation on the day of its release and have been putting it to the test for several weeks! How does it measure up to its predecessors? Keep reading for a full report, below!
Lancome Care and Glow Foundation
The Shade Range:
As always, I want to start things off with a look at the shade range for the new Lancome Care and Glow foundation.
There are currently thirty shades available with varying undertones. Shades also follow the same system of other Lancome foundations so you can easily find your best match if you’re an existing customer.
When you review the full spectrum of available shades, you may notice that there aren’t as many options to choose from for the darker skintones. This is a recurring issue I sincerely hope Lancome corrects in the future because darker skin comes in varying undertones same as light skin. Let’s represent everyone, equally!
SEMI-RADIANT, Not MATTE
At heart, the Care and Glow foundation is an expansion of Lancome’s beloved Teint Idole Ultra Wear line. The famous original foundation is fantastic in my book but I’ve seen those with dry skin say it’s a bit too matte for them. That’s where the Care and Glow foundation could be a happy medium as it has a radiant and hydrating finish that could better suit dryer skin types.
MEDIUM AND NATURAL COVERAGE
When applied, I was very happy to see that the Lancome Care and Glow foundation has a very natural skin-like appearance. It’s not heavy on the complexion and while it’s also not full-coverage — the product does provide medium coverage that concealers dark spots, freckles and other blemishes.
KEY INGREDIENTS
As mentioned, Lancome’s Care and Glow foundation isn’t just makeup. It’s also a hybrid product that includes two key skincare ingredients:
- HYALURONIC ACID: Hydrates and protects the skin’s natural moisture barrier
- MANDELIC ACID: A gentle AHA that can improve skin texture’s and reduce signs of acne
HOW TO APPLY:
I played around with the foundation and applied it to my skin with a brush, beauty sponge as well as with my finger tips.
No matter what method, I was happy to see that the product applies very smoothly and blends easily into the skin. It’s not a streaky foundation and is one you can whisk on in just a couple minutes. After applying, I topped it off with concealer as well as my must-have daily Dior Backstage powder.
HEAT AND HUMIDITY TESTED
Surely I don’t have to go into much detail on how hot and humid the weather has been over the last several weeks. Our summer climate is certainly setting records — making for a hardcore environment to test this foundation’s longevity! While I do disagree with the 24-hour wear claim, I was mighty impressed with how well the product holds up throughout the day — including on my daily outdoor walks and even swim time at the pool.
Teint Idole Renergie Lift v. Care and Glow Foundation
In the back of my mind, the biggest question about the Lancome Care and Glow foundation has been why it was invented when the Renergie Lift foundation already exists. Both of these foundations offer skincare benefits in addition to long-wearing coverage throughout the day. Ultimately, when comparing the two it boils down to what their ingredients strive to accomplish:
- RENERGIE LIFT: Targets dark spots, wrinkles and other signs of aging
- CARE & GLOW: Targets moisture levels and skin tone
Note: I do have a full review on Lancome’s Renergie Lift foundation, here.

OVERALL GRADE: B
All in all, I do quite enjoy the Lancome Care and Glow foundation. It has a nice, natural appearance on the skin while concealing imperfections. It also wears well throughout the day and even survives the extreme summer heat and humidty.
In terms of skincare, I think it will really boil down to what you’re trying to accomplish when it comes to choosing this foundation over the Teint Idole Renergie Lift version.
As of right now, I’m pretty happy with my morning moisturizer and skin’s texture so don’t feel as great of a pull towards this foundation. I also very much appreciate the anti-aging benefits that the Renergie Lift foundation offers. So I’m not convinced I’ll be repurchasing the Care and Glow foundation for my own collection but it’s definitely one well worth considering if have dry skin and are trying to improve your skin’s texture.
