The February 2022 favorites that helped make a rather difficult month a little better.

Oh February. A difficult month from any year but especially 2022.
Of course no difficulty could be more front of mind than the devastating events in Ukraine as they fight to hold onto their freedom as a sovereign nation. I’m sure I’m not the only one when I say I have been glued to all the updates from Ukraine as well as around the globe in defense of their democracy.
The Ukrainian people have my full support and I’ll gladly continue to donate, write my representatives and show support in any way I can. If you’re looking for ways to help, here are some excellent resources:
On a Personal Note
There’s also the reality that February was a rather difficult month for me. I’m now just a few days away from having a surgery I wish I didn’t need and the road to this point has been a long, incredibly painful journey.
When I sat down with a pen and paper to reflect on February 2022 favorites – the number one blessing that came to my mind is medical insurance.
HERE’S TO HEALTH INSURANCE
While I’m not at all happy about the physical situation I find myself in — with every medical test and appointment I felt so overwhelmingly thankful that I have health insurance. There was a time in my life that I did not because no provider would cover me and all that changed in thanks to the Affordable Care Act’s protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
Let me tell you, not having insurance is really frickin’ awful. Huge expenses aside, you also start to feel like you’re somehow a lesser human being when navigating the medical system. It’s exhausting. It’s humiliating. And it makes it really difficult to get the care you need.
But here’s the thing. I don’t want to be a downer. My problems are nothing compared to those in Ukraine and countless others battling more serious issues. Instead, I want to hopefully shed a little lightness because I think we really could all use it! So during a commercial break while watching Meet the Press I snapped some quick photos of my February 2022 favorites because while this month was not a pleasant one — they helped make it just a *wee* bit better.
FEBRUARY 2022 FAVORITES
WANDER BEAUTY LIP RETREAT OIL
Oh gosh this winter has been brutal on my skin! I don’t know if its getting older or if it’s just been drier than usual this year but I’ve been lathering myself in CeraVe from head-to-toe nightly…. including my lips until I discovered the lip retreat oil from Wander Beauty. The totally clean, vegan formula is the most hydrating lip product in my vast collection of options. It’s lightweight, soft, silky and formulated with antioxidants, niacinamide, avocado oil and more hydrating ingredients to protect your lips’ moisture barrier.
SCENTERED DE-STRESS BALM
Suffice to say — a leant pretty heavily on my De-Stress balm from Scentered last month. It’s such a soothing way to help calm the mind and provide relief in moments of pain and anxiety. (Use ‘DreaminLace’ for 10% off)
NARS LIGHT REFLECTING FOUNDATION
I did share a full review detailing much more about my love for the new NARS Light Reflecting foundation but as I love it so much – there was no escaping including it as one of my February 2022 favorites! What I especially love about it is that the formula is 70% skincare and only 30% makeup. It’s loaded with a whole lineup of ingredients to hydrate your skin as well as protect it from blue light damage.
OLE HENRIKSEN PEPTIDE BOOST MOISTURIZER
Like the NARS foundation, I did share a detailed review of Ole Henriksen’s newest moisturizer here — but I’ll rave about it a little bit more. The silkiness helps create a smooth surface for makeup when used as a morning moisturizer. In addition to peptides, though, the powerhouse product is loaded with hyaluronic acid, plant-based collagen, B12 and more to fight signs of aging while protecting your skin’s moisture barrier.
PAT MCGRATH LIQUID LIPSTICK
Being the month of Valentine’s Day – I always find myself leaning more on red lipsticks in February. My favorite is without a doubt the bullet-proof Pat McGrath’s legendary matte liquid lipstick that stays put all day long. (Yes, even through copious sips of coffee.)
MAYBELLINE LIQUID EYELINER
I dunno when it was that I picked it up but I found this Maybelline eyeliner in my stash at the start of the month and low and behold it became one of my February 2022 favorites! What I particularly like about this liner is that the pen has a super fine tip that’s perfect for lining the lash line. It also stays put throughout the day and does not bleed through tears.
J.CREW SWEATERS
Without a doubt, I really took advantage of the J.Crew Winter Sale this year! I picked up several sweaters and pants to carry me through the rest of this winter and for years ahead. My favorite? A rosy pink sweater that put a little splash of romanticism on an otherwise grey month!
Nº1 Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm
Oh goodness do I love a multi-functional product, particularly one as wonderful as the new lip and cheek balms from Chanel. These have arrived with a collection of spring-ready shades. They have a beautiful formula that’s sticky enough to last atop your cheeks while serving a plate of moisture for your lips.
BOB SAGET’S DIRTY DADDY
Wow. I had no idea what an incredible story-teller Bob Saget is. I also didn’t fully understand how much love he had for his family and coworkers. I went into listening to Bob’s audiobook expecting to laugh but instead I got a rather heartwarming glimpse into the kind and thoughtful man he was. It’s so incredibly sad to prematurely lose him and in such a tragic way — I really can’t recommend listening to Dirty Daddy more so you hear his story through his own voice.
Thank you so much for reading about my Fanuary 2022 favorites. If you fell in love with anything last month, let me know!
