Always a favorite of Paris Fashion Week is Maison Margiela. Wednesday, Margiela unveiled a Fall/Winter 2016 collection that masterfully blends warm and cool tones into feminine silhouettes with a twist. When it comes to Margiela and Galliano, remember to expect the unexpected, always…while planning for greatness.
Let’s breakdown the beauty of John Galliano’s latest collection for Margiela. As painful as it was to see him leave Dior, I am loving watching him weave magic at Margiela – yielding collections that stand out every single season. At Margiela, there’s life and freedom of expression. At Margiela, there are clothes that reinvent traditions and change the perceptions we all have etched in our brains of what classic women’s wear should be.
In Margiela’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection, mixed prints and wool saw new life. Knitwear was key, with wool skirts, fully-fashioned sweaters and cutting edge arm warmers that gave a relaxed feel to elegant, ladylike silhouettes. Models strutted the Paris runway in layer upon layer of wool overcoats, pleated metallic skirts, velvet collars and embroidered tabards over shift dresses with puffed sleeves.
Margiela’s FW16 collection is a decadent mishmash that will fit nicely in urban stomping grounds around the world. My own closet is crying out right now for the militant vests, wool tights and embellished blouses. It would be a lot of fun to mix these pieces and play them against classic trousers and vivid prints. Styling is an art and Margiela continuously deliver statement pieces that can truly take your wardrobe for another level.
This is just a taste of the beauty of Margiela’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. To see the full collection, head over to Margiela’s website here, which features the all of the runway looks as well a whole lot more fashionable goodness!
