With new creative director Alessandro Michele at the reigns, Gucci steers in a whole new direction with a colorful Resort 2016 Collection that makes geeky-chic the latest hot trend in fashion. #SquadGoals
Fresh off a knock off performance at the Cannes Film Festival with Lupita Nyong’o (here), Gucci is on fire! Thursday, models took to the runways of New York City to debut Gucci’s Cruise 2015 collection, which was a vibrant, colorful and fresh direction for the major fashion house.
Gucci’s Resort 2016 was, in a nutshell, eclectic. The runway opened with a series of Gossip Girl‘s Blair Waldorf approved prepster looks, then veered into a boho-romance before finishing with a splash of mod. It was a mishmash of inspiration that advanced the 70’s aesthetic of recent collections, but spun a new geeky vibe. We’ve got framed glasses with evening wear, people! Hello, major moment.
But no, these geeks aren’t wearing pocket protectors. Instead, Alessandro Michelespun schoolgirl looks with a Chanel meets Saint Laurent vibe, Valentino-esque bohemian rhapsody with electric colors, and decorative coats that look straight out of Betty Draper’s closet with a Miu Miu vibe.
Gucci’s Resort 2016 collecting forecasts great things ahead at Gucci. Without question, all eyes have certainly be turned to Alessandro Michele since she stepped into the role of creative director of the iconic brand late last year. Well, now we know…and the future looks bright!
