With new creative director Alessandro Michele at the reins, Gucci steers in a whole new direction with a colorful Resort 2016 Collection that makes geeky-chic the latest hot trend in fashion. #SquadGoals
Fresh off a knock off performance at the Cannes Film Festival with Lupita Nyong’o (here), Gucci is on fire!
Models took to a New York City runway on Thursday to debut the Gucci Cruise 2016 collection — which was a vibrant fresh direction for the major Italian fashion house.
The Gucci Cruise 2016 collection was, in a nutshell, eclectic. The runway opened with a series of Gossip Girl‘s Blair-Waldor-approved prepster looks before veering into Bohemian rhapsody and finishing with a splash of mod. It was an eclectic mishmash of inspiration that advanced the 1970s aesthetic that has spanned across recent collections but introduced a funky geeked out approach.
But no, these geeks are not wearing pocket protectors. Instead, Alessandro Michele spun Chanel-meets-Saint-Laurent schoolgirl looks, Valentino-esque electric colors and decorative coats that look like they came straight out of Betty Draper’s closet.
There’s no question! The Gucci Cruise 2016 collection forecasts great things ahead fore the brand. All eyes turned to Alessandro Michele late last year when he was named creative director and from his debut collection we now know the future is bright!
