For his Spring/Summer 2016 Collection, fashion rock star Joseph Altuzarra explored his Basque and Spanish roots, while filing models flew down theNew York Fashion Week runway in a palette or orange, inspired by the region.
Apologies, dreamers, for taking a couple days to get my review of Altuzarra‘s stunning Spring/Summer 2016 collection up on Dream in Lace (Note: when I say stunning, I mean STUNNING!) But, upon upon mourning the loss of my dear Golden Retriever Lucky and running around town (in between tears) for the largest fundraiser of the year at work…I got a little bit behind. But, there’s NO WAY I could forego discussing Altuzarra’s brilliant collection- that to me is one of the ultimate best SS16 collections shown at New York Fashion Week this season.
Celebrating the palette and aesthetic of his heritage, Altuzarra showed wrinkled and rusted dresses, heavily embellished skirts and dresses, and sophisticated and tailored, yet relaxed, suiting. The collection even deviated a bit into color with greens, blues and fire orange tie-dyed fabrics. Of course, it wouldn’t be Altuzarra without that signature silhouette and of a narrow pencil skirt, shimmering over a woman’s curves – capped off with a sexy, yet classy, slit. If there’s one thing Joseph Altuzarra knows how to celebrate, it’s a ladies legs.
Needless to say, the high pressure and lack of sleep over the last few days has been exhausting. Fortunately for me though, Altuzarra’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection is something like a day trip to the spa for my eyes. It’s peaceful, elegant and extremely chic – the triple threat I think all women aspire to be, but an achievement of few.
It seems, with each birth of a new collection…Joseph Altuzarra is only planting his foot deeper, marking his place in fashion history. If one thing’s for sure, it doesn’t take a genius to see how much the fashion and celebrity world has embraced him. Altuzarra’s Fall 2015 dress has been featured all over the red carpets and fall fashion magazine issues lately–making it THE dress of the season in my book.
What grade do you give Altuzarra’s Spring 2016 Collection? I’m settling somewhere along an A. I KNOW I’ve been saying that for basically every collection I’ve spared enough time to review this week…but it truly is a piece of work. It seems like there’s always one winner of the day at NYFW, and even though we’re a few days passed — I vote Altuzarra’s SS16 show as the winner of Day 3!
Of course, you might have a different opinion and I’d love to hear it!
